Teaching Content
本单元话题围绕环境保护展开,通过我们日常生活中的一些行为和现象,告诫学生哪些是应该做的,哪些是不应该做的。本单元的学习重点是借助句型We should... We shouldn’t...等提出劝告或建议;通过本单元的学习,教育学生要为保护环境做一些力所能及的事,从而提高学生保护环境的意识。本节课以Part A中Let’s talk部分的会话教学为主。在巩固Let’s learn部分词汇drive a car, the earth, cut down trees, pick flowers, make the air dirty, waste water的基础上,继续学习World Car Free Day,并运用情态动词should和shouldn’t表达建议或劝告;在学习对话内容的基础上,运用句型We shouldn’t... We should care for...准确地表达爱护地球、保护环境。

At the end of the class, the Ss will be able to:
1.Talk about caring for the earth by using the key phrases and sentence structures.
Phrases: World Car Free Day, drive a car, make the air dirty, waste water, cut down trees, pick flowers, the earth, care for.
Sentence structures: We shouldn’t... . We should care for... .
2. Read the dialogue on P19 .

Teaching Process
Step1 Warming up and lead-in ( 2′ )
Free talk, then ask them the questions: What day is it today? What’s the date today? Do you know September 22nd?
设计意图:从学生熟悉的话题以谈话的方式导入,拉近师生距离的同时,储备语言信息,为新授环节做好铺垫。
Step2 Presentation ( 20′ )
1. Create situation.
Consolidate the phrases and learn the sentence structures.
Pictures of driving a car, lead them to learn “World Car Free Day” and master “drive a car, make the air dirty”.
设计意图:直观的图片引导学生学习词汇,吸引学生的眼球,学生易理解,且能给学生留下深刻的印象。
Listen to the sound of running water, let students guess “What is happening?” Then teach them to learn “waste water” and sentence structures “ We shouldn’t ____. We should care for _______.”
设计意图: 自然流水声能唤起学生的听觉,集中学生的注意力,调动学生各种感官学习,学生不易疲劳,学习效果更佳。
Look at the poor little bird, the teacher asks: What happened to the little bird? (He can’t find his home.) Where is his home? Then lead them to practice “cut down trees” and the sentence structures.
设计意图:学生根据图片内容猜测学习,引发学生思考,给学生发散思维的空间。
Watch the beautiful flowers and lead them to say “pick flowers”, meanwhile, practice the sentences structures “We shouldn’t ____. We should care for _______.”
设计意图:漂亮的花朵吸引学生的眼球,提高课堂学习效率的同时,告诫学生哪些应该做,哪些不应该做。
Picture of the earth, lead the students to master “ the earth”.
设计意图:直观的图片降低理解难度,提高课堂学习效率。
2. Listen and watch.
Play the DVD ,let them to watch carefully and answer the questions:
What day is it today? (World Car Free Day)
Is Su Nan going to school by bike?
设计意图:通过听标准的语音语调,培养学生准确的语音语调,同时,在看动画的过程中理解文本内容,降低了学习难度,提高了课堂学习效率。问题引导学生有目地听,抓住文本关键信息的同时,培养学生听的能力,进而提高学生的综合语言运用能力。
3.Listen and follow.
Ss listen and follow to say the sentences by looking at their books. Then answer the questions:
Why shouldn’t Su Nan’s father drive a car today?
How will Su Nan’s mother go to work?
设计意图:通过模仿习得准确的语音语调,另外,问题设计由易到难,满足不同层次学生的学习需求。
4. Read in roles.
Teacher divides them to two groups, then let them read the dialogue in roles.
设计意图:通过角色参与,再次理解文本,内化语言知识。
Step3 Consolidation and expansion ( 10′ )
1. Think and say.
Teacher draws the fish and river on the blackboard and says “I can help the fish find his home. What can you do for the earth?”
Students say by using: I can… . I should ... . I shouldn't ... .
设计意图:教师以身作则,帮助小鱼回家,引导学生关爱地球,保护环境。学生在老师的引领下,从身边的小事做起,为保护环境做一些力所能及的事。
2.Watch a short video.
Watch a short video about destroying the earth. Emotional education. Lead out the title.

设计意图:视频资料让学生直观的感受保护环境的重要性,引发学生思考,唤起学生保护环境的意识。
3.Discuss and fill.
Students discuss in groups and get key information, then fill in the blanks:
We have only one earth. It is our home. It’s time to do something for our ____. We should ____ ____ the earth. We shouldn’t ______ flowers. We should ______ ______ flowers. We shouldn’t _______ ______ trees. We should _____ _____ _____.We shouldn’t make the ____ dirty. We should make the air _______ again. We shouldn’t _______ water. We should ____ _____water.
设计意图:小组讨论,将听、说、读、写有机的结合起来,及时巩固所学内容的同时,培养学生的小组合作能力。
Step4 Summary ( 3′ )
1. Finish the blackboard design.
Finish the title.
2.Read these words with light music.
We shouldn’t cut down trees.
We shouldn’t pick flowers.
We shouldn’t waste water.
We have only one earth.
We shouldn’t do anything bad. We should make the air clean. We should plant more trees. We should help the animals. We have only one earth.
We should do something good.
设计意图:配乐朗诵的方式总结本节课所学内容,在轻松的氛围中结束课堂教学,有益于培养学生持久的英语学习兴趣。
Step5 Homework ( 2′ )
1.Oral work.
Discuss in groups: What should we do to care for the earth?
2.Written work.
Make a poster in English.
Give them the examples.
设计意图:口头、书面两种方式的作业,既注重了所学内容的及时巩固,又注重了所学内容向生活实际的延伸。做海报给了学生发散思维的空间,培养学生的想象力和创造力。另外,具体的海报例子使得学生作业有参考,有益于不同层次学生的发挥。
