It’s nt easy t get yur papers (论文) published (发表) in tp science jurnal Nature? Hwever, Ca Yuan, a 24-year-ld Chinese scientist, had tw papers that he c-wrte published in Nature n May 6. Peple call him “a genius brn after 1995”.
Ca is a dctral student (博士生) studying at MIT, a tp university in the US. In 2018, he tpped Nature’s list f the tp 10 peple f that year.
Ca’s papers are abut graphene (石墨烯) – the thinnest and strngest material in the wrld. Scientists first discvered it in 2004.
Ca has fund a “switch” inside this material. By turning this “switch” n, the material can be used as supercnductr (超导体). But when it’s turned ff, the material can becme an insulatr (绝缘体). His finding has pened up a whle new field f supercnductr physics (超导体物理学). It culd allw scientists t find cheaper and easier ways t use electricity.
Ca finished middle and high schl in China in just tw years. At 14, he enrlled (入学) in Schl f the Gifted Yung (少年班) at the University f Science and Technlgy. This is a special prgram that turns gifted teenagers int wrld-class talents.
His greatest strength (优势) is prbably his ability t learn independently, accrding t his high schl physics teacher Huang Jiatang. As a teenager, Ca was unafraid t challenge teachers and ask difficult questins, Huang recalled.
