The Butterfly Lvers is a Chinese legend f a tragic lve stry f a pair f lvers, Liang Shanb and Zhu Yingtai. Their lve stry is cnsidered as the Chinese versin f Rme and Juliet.
The legend is set in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, abut 1600 years ag. In rder t pursue her academic success, Zhu Yingtai decided t g t Hangzhu t attend classes and dressed as a yung man. During her jurney t Hangzhu, she met Liang Shanb, a schlar frm Kuaiji. They studied tgether fr the next three years and Zhu gradually fell in lve with Liang. But Liang is a bkwrm and failed t ntice it. Later, after being clear abut Zhu’s lve t him, he headed fr the Zhu’s family t prpse marriage. Unfrtunately, Zhu had been engaged by her father t anther man named Ma Wencai.
Liang was s sad that he suffered illness and finally died. On the day f Ma and Zhu’s marriage, Zhu went t Liang’s tmb t shw respect t him. She was very grieved and begged fr the grave t pen up. After a while, the tmb pened as she wished and Zhu threw herself int it withut any hesitatin.
