表示事物的顺序的数词叫序数词。它的作用相当于名词或形容词,可作主语、宾语、定语或表语。
基数词要变为序数词是有规律可循的,其方法及具体示例如下:
twenty—twentieth thirty—thirtieth
six—sixth seventeen—seventeenth
1~19,一般在基数词后加-th
20~90之间的整十的序数词是把对应的基数词末尾的y变为ie,再加-th
20以后的非整十的两位或两位以上的基数词变为序数词时,只将个位数变为序数词
twenty-tw—twenty-secnd
特殊变化的基数词1、2、3、5、8、9、12等需单独记忆
ne—first tw—secnd three—third five—fifth eight—eighth nine—ninthtwelve—twelfth
基变序,有规律。 f来把 ve 替; 1,2,3,t,d,d; 词尾y,变 ie; 其余-th跟后面; 词尾加上-th, -th中有例外, 如要表示几十几, 8加h,9去e; 只变个位就可以。 5和12两兄弟,
序数词都有缩写形式:在阿拉伯数字后加该序数词的最后两个字母。示例如下:
first → 1st secnd → 2nd
third → 3rdfifth → 5th
thirty-eighth → 38th
(1) 序数词前一般要加定冠词the,尤其是单独使用时;表日期时,the可以省略;与不定冠词a/an连用时,表示“又一;再一”。
1. 这是第三个学生。 This is the third student.2. 加油。再试一次! Cme n. Try it a secnd time!
(2) 序数词作名词的定语,一般前面要加the,但如果
名词前有形容词性物主代词、名词所有格或指示代 词等限定词时,则不用the。
例:这是你第二条红色的裙子. This is yur secnd red dress.
英语中,用来表示所属关系的语法形式叫作名词所有格,它有“'s所有格”“f 所有格”和双重所有格三种形式。
①一般情况下,在单数名词后加“’s”。

② 以-s结尾的复数名词加“’”,不以-s结尾的复数 名词加“’s”。

③ 同一事物为多人共有时,只把最后一个名词变所有格;多个事物为多人各自所有时,每个名词都要变所有格。
father and mther’s rm 父亲和母亲的房间Linda’s and Lucy’s rms 琳达的房间和露西的房间
① 表示人或其他有生命的物体的名词的所属关系,可用’s所有格。
例:这是辛迪的外套。 This is Cindy’s cat.
② 表示时间、距离、价格时,可用’s所有格。
例:工作十小时后,我非常累。 After ten hurs’ wrk, I’m very tired.
③表示住所、商店或办公场所等时,’s所有格后通常不出现它所修饰的名词。

(1) 构成:名词+f+名词
(2) 用法:多用于表示无生命的事物的名词的所属关系。

注意:“’s所有格”有时可与“f所有格”互换。
