引导结果状语从句的连词主要有 s/such…that…,s that等。 She is s shrt that she can't reach the buttns f the lift. =She is t shrt t reach the buttns f the lift. They missed the bus s that they were late fr class. He gt up early s that he culd get t schl n time. =He gt up early t get t schl n time. =In rder t get t schl n time,he gt up early.
[比较]s…that… Nthing mre was heard f him,s that peple thught that he was dead. I was caught in a heavy rain,s that all my clthes gt wet. We left early s that we culd catch the first bus. Speak clearly s that we may understand yu. 注意:s that引导目的状语从句时,可用in rder that(以便,为了)替换,以上两句中的s that均可换成in rder that。
[比较]s…that…与such…that…s…that…的句型构成是s+adj./adv.+that;such…that…的句型构成是such+a(n)+adj.+n.+that;such+adj.+不可数名词+that;such+adj.+复数名词+that。He caught such a bad cld that he cughed day and night. It is such fine weather that we will g swimming. They are such small shes that I can’t put them n. 注意:“such+a(n)+adj.+单数名词”结构可以与“s+adj.+a(n)+单数名词”结构互换,其他结构则不可互换。It was such a lvely day that we decided t g uting. It was s lvely a day that we decided t g uting.
(2)当名词前有many,much,few,little修饰时,前面应用s,即s+many (much, few, little) + n.+that-clause从句The Smiths had s many children that they frmed their wn basketball team. There was s little water left that nly small children were given sme. s…that…“如此…… He was s excited that he culd nt speak.S excited was he that he culd nt speak. The bx is s heavy that nbdy can lift it.S heavy is the bx that nbdy can lift it.
He wrks hard _______ he can get gd result.2. The teacher wrte carefully ________ we culd see clearly.3. He is _____________he can’t say a wrd.4. My sister is ____________ she can’t walk farther.5. He jumped _____________he gt the first place.
