Starting ut部分:活动1呈现了一段与节日主题相关的视频,视频介绍了世界各地一些庆祝季节变换的节日,如保加利亚的玫瑰节和中国的中秋节等。活动2请学生阅读对几个节日的描述,并将节日与庆祝原因进行匹配,从而了解节日庆祝原因的多样性。活动3鼓励学生联想其他节日及其庆祝原因。本板块旨在激学生已有的语言、背景知识,为接下来整个单元的学习活动做铺垫和预热。
Understanding ideas部分:本板块呈现了一篇反映单元主题的课文,语篇类型为书评。课文介绍了英国作家 Tlkien的《圣诞老人的来信》,主要讲述了 Tlkien在圣诞节以圣诞老人的口吻给他的孩子们写信的故事,体现了Tlkien对孩子们深沉的父爱。读前的导入活动帮助学生了解 Tlkien,从而熟悉课文的主要人物和文化背景。读中活动引导学生思考“写的是什么、为什么要写”这两个问题。读后活动则通过主旨大理解、细节理解和开放性问答等活动,启发学生深入思考,探究主题意义。

1. T asks Ss t read the questins in Activity 1 and plays the vide.Ss watch a vide abut festivals in different seasns and answer the questins:
(1) What festivals are mentined in the vide?
(2) Why d peple celebrate these festivals?
2. T invites sme Ss t share their answers with the class. Ss share their answers with the class.
Q1:The festivals mentined in the vide are “hanami”, the Rse Festival, the Mid-Autumn Day, the Harbin internatinal Ice and Snw Festival,and the New Year.
Q2:Because peple want t celebrate the Changing seasns and express their appreciatin f nature.

Step 3 Reading and discussin
Activity 2 (Starting ut)
T asks Ss t read the fur festival descriptins and cmplete the sentences in Activity 2.
Ss read the descriptins and discuss in pairs, then cmplete sentences.
T invites sme Ss t share their answers and encurages the Ss t cme up with mre infrmatin abut these festivals.
Then T shw the answers thrugh the PPT n the screen.

Keys: Other festivals f each type include Pngal,Spring Festival, Independence Day and Valentine’s Day,etc.
Other reasns t celebrate a festival include celebrating the beginning f a year, wrshipping the ancestrs,etc.
Teachers can use pictures, vides and text t briefly intrduce ther festivals, s that students can learn mre abut the festivals.
