1.Reorganize teaching materials in order to make the students practice both pronunciation and words first. 2.By reviewing Lesson 2, make the students understand the grammar of time clause better. | ||
Ⅰ.Warm-up | Show the students the chat and ask them to try to follow it. | |
Ⅱ.Presentation | Divide the whole lesson into three parts: the area of W (words and phrases), the area of P (pronunciation) and the area of S (structure). The students will choose which part to deal with first. (A)Students read after the tape about the words and circle the stressed syllable in each word. Then explain the rules of stressed syllable. (B)Explain the rules of stressed words in a sentence. (Key words, such as nouns, verbs, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs etc. should be stressed in a sentence.) After explanation, ask the students to listen to the tape and circle the two words that get the most stress in each sentence. | |
Ⅲ.Words and phrases | (A)Show a picture of a clown. Ask questions: Who is this? What does he do? Can you modify the clown with some adjectives? With the help of these questions, students will fill in the blanks with the words given easily. Show another picture of an ostrich. Ask questions: Will the ostrich be near to you, when you find it in the zoo? Why not? These questions also can help the students fill in the blanks. (B)Look at the picture in this part and let the students talk about the picture. | |
Ⅳ.Structure | (A)Explain what the time adverbial clause is. (B)Ask students to find time adverbial clause in Lesson Two. (C)Remind the students of the conjunctions and the tense. (D)Do some exercises about the conjunctions. (E)Play a game between boys and girls about the time clause. (F)Play a flash of my friend, Mike. Ask the students to write some time clauses about Mike's day. (G)Make a survey about “What does your classmate do as soon as he gets home from school?” and “What does he do before he goes to bed?” Talk about the teacher's day and tell students how important it is to form a good life habit. | |

1.Reorganize teaching materials in order to make this lesson easier for the students to learn. First step, we will deal with Group Work. Students will play a game about the time clause according to Part A in Group Work. 2.Show videos of the student's first day. Ask and answer questions about it. Then let the students practice writing their first day of school. 3.Listen to the dialogue and make a survey according to the dialogue. | ||
Ⅰ.Warm-up | Ask students to do some actions and the other students make sentences with the time clause. | |
Ⅱ.Competition | (A)Divide the whole class into four groups. Ask students to make sentences with the time clause. Group A chooses a question board for Group B. If Group B can make a correct sentence, GB can get a flag. If not, GA will get a flag instead. Then GB chooses a question board for GC… (B)Ask students to tell four things about themselves. Give students 30 seconds to prepare. | |
Ⅲ.Writing work (On Your Own) | (A)Show students a video of their classmate's first day of school. After watching, ask and answer some questions. (B)Show another video of their classmate's first day of school. Divide the class into groups of four. Let the students talk about the video and each in the group will say something about the video. (C)Ask students to write about their first day of school. | |
Ⅳ.Listening | Play the tape and talk about the dialogue. | |
Ⅴ.Making a survey. | Ask students to make a survey according to the sentences in the dialogue box. People may feel very nervous, when they first do something. They will feel better after they practice more. So let the whole class know “Practice makes perfect.” | |
