My name is Robinson Crusoe, and I was born in 1632 in the city of York (a major city in Northern England). My father was a successful businessman. I had two older brothers. One of them was in the army and was killed in the war with Spain. My other brother disappeared one day, and we never knew what happened to him. My father gave me a good education and wanted me to be a lawyer.
I didn’t want to be a lawyer. I wanted to be a sailor and go to the sea. My father was very angry with me. He asked me why I wanted to leave his house, where I would have an easy and comfortable life.
“Two kinds of people go to sea,” he said. “There are the very poor and the very rich people. The very poor people are ignorant and foolish and have no other way to live. The very rich people own the ships and make a lot of money with them. You are not foolish, and you are not very rich. You are in the middle, and you should choose a middle way for your life. Most of the bad things happen to the very rich or very poor. You are lucky to be in the middle. It is safer and easier! Stay home with your mother and me. Your older brother would not listen to me, and now he is dead. If you do not listen to me, you will have a difficult life!”
I tried to do what he wanted, but I couldn’t. I spoke to my mother.
“Please ask father if he will let me have one journey on the sea,” I asked her. “When I return, I will live the life he wants me to live.”
She was very angry. “Don’t be a fool! Your father will not let you. How can you even think about it after he spoke to you? I agree with him. I do not want you to go to the sea. It is too dangerous.”
I argued with my parents for another year. Then, I went to Hull with a friend who was going to London on a ship. He invited me to go with him, and I agreed. I did not ask my parents. I did not even tell them. I just went. That was how all my bad luck began.

It's important to develop the healthy habits in your daily life. The following will help you become healthier and keep perfect shape.
Eat properly. A healthy diet is very important for everybody. Breakfast is the most important meal in a day. Doctors suggest that students’ breakfast should include fruit, eggs, milk, rice or noodles, because these can offer them necessary energy, help them listen carefully in class and keep them healthy. Eat enough for lunch and little for supper. But remember that too much sugar is bad for your teeth and blood. You shouldn't have too many sweet snacks and desserts in your diet, even though such food tastes delicious.
Keep off germs(病菌). Daily tooth cleaning reduces the amount of germs which will spread diseases. Germs in the mouth arc likely to enter the blood and cause illness, even heart disease. Even if you’ re not sick, always remember to cough or   into your arms instead of your hands because hands can spread germs to others when you touch something else. Besides, washing hands is necessary after going to the toilet or before having a meal. And you'd better rub both hands while washing them.
Exercise regularly. Regular exercise can improve your moods and balance. Wha’s more, it’s good for bones. There are many forms of exercise: walking or running for about 30 minutes a day playing ball games twice or three times a week, swimming or dancing often. You can choose your favorite to practise regularly. You will not only feel energetic but also think better after doing exercise.

Many years ago, people used the sun, moon and stars to find their way around. Later, the compass (罗盘) was introduced. And now, we have satellite navigation (satnav) (卫星导航)systems to guide us. A satnav system can show the users’ locations by satellite. They send information to a receiver, such as a smartphone, to show us where we are.
The earliest satnav system is the Global Positioning System (GPS), which belongs to the US. Then there is Russia’s Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS), the European Union’s Galileo and China’s own satellite navigation system, BeiDou(BDS).
Since its introduction in 2000, the BDS has seen increasing numbers of applications linked to everyday life, from shared bikes to farming. When it comes to shared bikes, smart locks with BeiDou chips(芯片) offer more accurate positioning than others, making it easier to find a bike. Farmers can use BeiDou-enabled tractors to plow (犁耕) the soil, and drones (无人机) using BeiDou to sow seeds, which can improve efficiency and make better use of resources.
Today, there are more than 20 BeiDou satellites above our heads, and China plans to launch up to eight more BeiDou satellites this year to expand the BeiDou network.
