My biggest headache is hw t be plite in English. It's s much easier t just say "Open the windw!", but in English that can sund really terrible. I have t think abut wh I'm talking t and then decide whether t say, "Open the windw, please!" r "Culd yu pen the windw, please?" r even lnger "Wuld yu mind pening the windw, please?"
Yeah, that's really hard! I think it all depends n wh yu're talking t. If I'm talking t a clse friend, I can use shrt requests, like "Open the windw'—ur relatinship is clse and we're equals, s I nly need a few wrds t bridge the gap between us. But if I'm talking t smene wh isn't very clse t me, I must make my request lnger-and I must make it a questin, nt a demand, e.g. "Culd yu pen the windw, please? If 'm talking t smene senir t me, then I shuld say,"Wuld yu mind pening the windw, please?"
Questin: Hw t be plite in English
Slutin (Advice): It depends n wh yu're talking t.
IntrductinNn-native English speakers smetimes sund implite t native English speakers. This is because they ften use language that is t direct, and des nt shw the crrect distance frm the listener.
PrblemSmetimes what yu said makes pele arund yu unpleasant and yu have truble getting peple t respnd t yur requests. S it's necessary t learn hw t be plite in English.
Slutin (Advice)One way t shw yur pliteness is t change yur wrds and phrases when talking t different peple. When yu are talking t a clse friend, yu can use shrt requests like “Open the windw”. If yu use a very frmal request like “Wuld yu mind my pening the windw?”, yur clse friend may feel strange and unpleasnat. But when yu are talking t smene wh is nt clse t yu r senir t yu, yu shuld use questins like “Wuld yu mind pening the windw, please?”.
CnclusinT be plite t thers is t shw yur respect t thers, which is very imptant in yur scial life. Yur pliteness makes yu mre attractive, ppular and brings in mre friends.
Fr me, vcabulary is my biggest prblem—there are just SO MANY new wrds! I can't keep all the new vcabulary straight in my head, and I certainly can't remember hw t use them all prperly. HELP!
My advice is...
brainstrm sme useful ideas
Vcabulary is the key t learning English well
Write dwn the new wrd in yur ntebk and make a new sentence using the wrd r phrase
Try t read everyday.
Try accumulating wrds daily and mnthly.
attempt t memrize all the wrds and phrases in just a few days
take a vcabulary bk and recite the wrds and phrases
The better yur vcabulary is, the better yur learning.
Dn't just wrk n the wrds required by the exams
G ver new wrds again
Try reading English newspapers
Write a passage n hw t enlarge yur vcabulary, using the abve ideas and wrds and phrases in yur textbk.
