Everyone in our town is feeling uneasy.单词展示outdoorsadv.在户外;在野外laboratoryn.实验室sleepyadj.困倦的;瞌睡的coat n.外套;外衣生成新知can可表示能力/允许/可能性/怀疑猜测,意为“可以,会,能”;can’t意为“不会,不能,不可以”,还有“不可能”之意。could为can的过去式,用法与can类似,常用于过去时态中;cancould还可用于现在时态中表示委婉客气,相当于can;could也可表示惊讶怀疑,不相信。eg: He couldn’t be a thief.may表示允许、也许,意为“也许;可能;可以”,语气不太可能。对may的一般问句的回答:肯定回答一般是:Yes, please./ Certainly./ Sure等否定回答一般是: No, you can’t/mustn’t. maymight是may的过去式,与may用法类似,语气比may弱,表示推测的可能性更小,常用于肯定句和否定句中,不用于疑问句中。must表示必须要做的事,意为“必须,应该”。must一般问句的否定回答用needn’t或don’t have to,而不用mustn’t,mustn’t意为“不可以,不能”,表示禁止,不许可。musteg: — Must we hand in our exercise book today? — Yes, you must. ( No, you needn’t.) must还可表示有把握的推测,意为“一定、肯定”。must的过去式还是must。在回答以must开头的一般疑问句时,否定式需用needn’t,表示“不必”的意思。【活学活用】 —The lake is said to be dry. Is that true? —It _______. Look, some kids are swimming in it!
