    “Tm!” she cried. “Help!”
    N reply. If nly she had nt left her mbile phne in that bag with Tm. Jane kept mving, but the farther she walked, the mre cnfused she became. As night was beginning t fall, Jane was s tired that she had t stp fr the night. Lying awake in the dark, Jane wanted very much t be with Tm and her family. She wanted t hld him and tell him hw much she lved him.
    Jane rse at the break f day, hungry and thirsty. She culd hear water trickling (滴落)smewhere at a distance. Quickly she fllwed the sund t a stream. T her great jy, she als saw sme berry bushes. She drank and ate a few berries. Never in her life had she tasted anything better. Feeling strnger nw, Jane began t walk alng the stream and hpe it wuld lead her t the lake.
    As she picked her way carefully alng the stream, Jane heard a helicpter. Is that fr me? Unfrtunately, the trees made it impssible fr peple t see her frm abve. A few minutes later, anther helicpter flew verhead. Jane tk ff her yellw bluse, thinking that she shuld g t an pen area and flag them if they came back again.

I dn’t even want t have curage!” he cmplained, turning his head the ther way, and wiped his eyes acrss his arm. “If nt curage, fine.” his father replied strictly. “Then have enugh lve fr yur sister t think this thrugh!” He gently placed his hand n the by’s shulder and cntinued, mre sftly this time. “I’m just hlding yu back. Yu’re yung, but yu’re strng and fast. D yu remember the way back frm here t the rad, if yu had t g alne?”
    Jeff flashed back t the painful scene f his sister at their campsite this mrning. She’d been bitten by a snake, befre lng she culd barely mve, and the pain seemed t be getting wrse. She needed medical attentin right away, s leaving her at the campsite and seeking help was their nly chice. “Jeff? Jeff, culd yu d it? Culd yu climb up the canyn and make it withut me?”
    Jeff lked past his father’s encuraging eyes t the end f the canyn, several miles away. He ndded slwly as the path and the plan began t take hld in his mind. “What was the name f that little twn we stpped in, Dad?” “Flint. We parked at the side f the main rad a few miles ut f twn.” Jeff thught abut this and then ndded.

    Suddenly, Bbby hit the ball t hard and the ball fell int the sea. Just as Bbby was ging t pick up the ball, the tide came in and carried the ball further and further away frm the shre. I wanted t shw ff my swimming skills s I declared t help get the ball fr him.
    I dived int the water and started swimming at a steady pace. After swimming fr abut ten minutes, I became tired but when I saw that the ball was nly a few feet away frm me, I put in an extra burst f speed. Hwever, just as I was ging t get the ball, a very strng current swept the ball further away frm me. At that mment, a string f weed (海草) tangled (缠绕) up with my feet and I culd nt swim prperly.
    I struggled t keep aflat but it was n use. “If I had listened t my parents, this wuld never have happened,” I thught silently.

The dg was pulling at his leash trying t draw them away frm the smke. This was what Brady was trained t d, and yet Steve was uneasy. It seemed t him they were mving away frm the river.
    Brady lifted his head and smelled the smky wind. Suddenly, the dg ran away and disappeared. The bys yelled and shuted fr him,but he didn’t cme back.
    They had n chice but t leave him behind. Heartsick, Steve and Zach went up a slpe. He culdn’t blame Brady fr panicking and escaping. He himself wanted t run even thugh he didn’t have a clue which way. They hadn’t gne far when there was a familiar bark, and Brady came running tward him.
