Step 1 warm-up:
When do people smile and say hello? What do you do when you meet your friends? How do you feel when you talk to strangers? Do you find it difficult in making friends?
e.g. contact/ stranger/ open one’s heart/ joyful/away/ energy/ pretend/ treat/ kindness/ shall/ as long as/ fear/ easy/ especially. Step 2 Reading First reading: FAST reading practice Ask the students to read the text as fast as possible to find the answer to the general question: What is the text about?
Second reading: Give the students 5-7 minutes to read the text alone and try to complete the reading tasks on page 8.Then let them discuss and share the information with the whole class.
Third reading: Ask the students to read the text after the tape. Then explain the language points to the students if necessary.
Step 3 Practice Ask the students to complete the summary with the words from the box.
Step 4 : Homework

Introduce themselves in English.
Discuss the questions on the topic: smile and say hello.
Learn the key words in the reading material.
Do the fast reading practice. Then share the information with the whole class.
Read the text alone and try to complete the reading tasks on page 8.Then discuss and share the information with the whole class.
Read the text after the tape. And learn the language points .
Complete the summary exercise with the teacher’s help.
