Bring in a picture f a cked turkey, a pht f my grandmther and grandfather, a flded piece f card paper, a small picture f a Christmas card, Christmas wrapping paper and a bx.
(Bks clsed.) Give the card t a pupil. Say Merry Christmas! This is a Christmas card. Write the wrds Christmas and card n the bard.
Tell the pupil t pass the card n t anther pupil saying Merry Christmas! Repeat the prcess.
Ask What d yu d at Christmas? (The pupils have learned What d yu d in the classrm? Etc. in Bk 4 Unit 2. Remind them f this questin t help them understand. Explain that we can use the wrd ‘at’ in reference t times r special ccasins.) When the pupils understand the sentence, prmpt them t ask me What d yu d at Christmas?
Shw the pupils the bx saying This is a present. I wrap presents. Wrap the bx quickly. Shw the pupils the wrapped bx and say This is a Christmas present. Write wrap and present n the bard.
Prmpt the pupils t ask What d yu d at Christmas? again. Give a pupil the wrapped bx and say I give presents. Write give n the bard. Tell the pupil t give me back the present. Say I get presents. Write get n the bard. Then give the present t anther pupil and repeat the prcess.
Prmpt the pupils t ask What d yu d at Christmas? again. Shw the picture f the cked turkey. Say This is a turkey. Mime eating. Then say I eat turkey. Write eat and turkey n the bard.
Prmpt the pupils t as the questin again. Take the flded piece f card. Shw it t the pupils. Shw them the small picture f the Christmas tree. Stick it t the frnt f the card. On the inside, write Merry Christmas. Then say I make cards. Write make n the bard.
When the pupils ask the questin again, hld up the pht f my grandparents. Pint t each f them and say This is my grandma. This is my grandpa. Mime visiting them by pening the classrm dr as if I’m pening the dr t my huse and my grandparents are utside the dr. Mime greeting and visiting with them. Then say I see my grandma and grandpa. Write Grandma and Grandpa n the bard.
