Unit 6 Protecting the innocent
一. 教材分析:
This unit is about detectives and crimes. The main passage is an interview between Pansy and Detective Ken, who tells her about one of his cases.
The Listening section contains a task about identifying stolen jewellery, in which students have to listen to a spoken description and identify the correct pictures. The Language section contains several exercises featuring Detective Ken. The main task in the Speaking section is a role-play game in which two robbery suspects must try to give the same story during two separate interviews. In the Writing section, students must use pictures and notes to write a report of a crime.
This chapter could be divided into seven periods.

学生对这样一篇关于侦探的文章还是会比较感兴趣的,但文章语言点比较多,要关注好学生对知识点的掌握情况,打好基础。
教学方法思考:
在对本单元课文的处理上,通过对教材和学生的分析以及初三的教学特点,秉承教学复习并进原则。本单元设计为9个课时,5个课时处理课文内容,解决重要知识点,以培养提高学生阅读能力为主。2个课时不定式。在小练处理上,要稳扎稳打。

Synopsis:
P 1: Pansy asks why Ken enjoys working as detective.
P 2: Ken replies with a story about a case involving Mr. Li, a rich antique collector, whose vase was stolen.
P 3-4: During the investigation, Ken looks for clues and observes that the carpet is clean, although it is muddy outside the open window. He also finds an earring.
P 5-6: He interviews Jill, a friend of Li’s, who has a necklace matching the earring.
P 7-8: She claims that she lost the earring a month before. Ken checks her story.
P 9: Pansy asks how he solved the case.
P 10: Ken tells Pansy that he accused Li of stealing his own vase for the insurance money and that Li confessed.
P 11-12: The earring was put there by Li to make his friend the suspect.
P 13: Li is now in prison.
P14: Ken answers Pansy’s original question. He likes protecting the innocent and finding the guilty.
