Analysis of material | 1. The main content This lesson is chosen from NSE English book the first semester of grade nine module 2 unit 1. The theme are holidays, festivals and celebrations. The reading material is a dialogue between Tony, Lingling, Daming and Betty, The dialogue is they talking about the National Day together. They respectively introduced the origin of the Nation Day in China and the United States, different ways of celebrating it and the arrangement of their families’ holiday activities. The text mainly lets the students learn the expression way of date, the composition of ordinal number and the way of reading. 2. The type of the text The language of the text is a little difficult for students because the dialogue involves the expression of dates.
(1) Students can understand the speaker’s intention and the main idea of the passage through intonation and stress. (2)Then students can express the dates correctly in daily conversation. (3)Meanwhile, let students willing to contact foreign culture, enhance the awareness of the motherland. (4)What’s more, students can pay attention to and reflect on their own progress and shortcomings in English learning.
