    This period is focused on grammar.The main grammatical items in this unit are the active and passive forms of the past perfect tense. The three activities in this section reflect the process of grammar learning. Activity 1 presents the two set of sentences, each group respectively using the pluperfect active voice and passive voice to describe the same information. Activity 2 let the student to choose the appropriate verbs, and use the past perfect in the active voice and passive voice completion two dialogue. Activity 3 belongs to the comprehensive application stage. The activity requires students to work in pairs.

    Look at the two pairs of sentences and compare  the first one and the second one.

    Pair 1

    Pair 2:

    1.They had finished their dinner by the time Sam joined them.

    2.Their dinner had been finished by the time Sam joined them.

    Read the two pairs of sentences again and find out the following items.
