    槟城市是马来西亚13个行政州之一的槟榔屿州首府所在地。岛上40%的人口居住在这里,是一个以华人为主,具有古老历史文化的城市,也是马来西亚第二大城市。
    当地称之为“升旗山”,位于岛屿中部,距乔治市中心约6公里,主峰高830米,为槟城高点,山上空气清新,四周景色一览无遗。登山游客可以选择乘搭缆车,或沿着缆车轨道旁的小径及梯级徒步而上,一路欣赏隐藏在升旗山热带雨林内的奇花异草,沿途并可俯览乔治市的壮丽景色。

    海墘街指槟城渡轮码头及其附近的一片地区,是槟城过去和现在的缩影。早年的华人在码头登岛后便就近在此落脚发展,逐渐形成繁华的社区和集市贸易。游客在这里可以看到槟城的美景,体验槟城人的生活,品尝当地特色美食。当地建筑风格多种多样,历史遗迹、旧时房屋和现代新式建筑,绘就了一幅槟城特有的风景画卷。
    槟城的中心城区又称乔治市,因英国国王乔治三世而得名。
