Every year in Bath，England，there is a special festival．People dress up in period clothes and

Jane Austen is an English novelist. This year, the festival focused on the 205th anniversary（周年）of her book Pride and Prejudice（《傲慢与偏见》）．

Born in Steventon，England，1775，Austen was famous for her humorous words and clever ideas．  2    At that time，if a woman wanted to live a happy life，she had to marry a rich man．But Austen said that a woman should marry for love，not for money or social status（地位）．   3   

Pride and Prejudice is the most famous novel by Austen. It tells a romantic story between a young woman Elizabeth and a tall，rich and handsome man，Mr．Darcy．There are many different adaptations（改编） of the famous novel．   4
