Plastic fishing nets, the s-called ghst nets, abandned yearly in the sea—abut 1 millin tns—are mre than just rubbish; they're a killer. Fish, sea birds, and turtles get caught in the netting and die, with mre species at risk.
Much shcked at this, Pranveer Singh Rathre, a materials-science engineer and materials R&D manager at Samsung, and his team set themselves the task f giving new life t the deadly nets. Last mnth, Samsung revealed a new line f Galaxy prducts made in part frm recycled plastic fishing nets fr the first time. The cmpany estimates this year alne it can recycle ver 50 tns f cean-bund plastic int the key cmpnents that will g int its smartphnes, tablets, and cmputers, thus taking a bite ut f the glbal ghst nets prblem.
It's n small task t give waste fishing nets a secnd act. The nets are typically made f a substance called nyln which tends t dramatically degrade (降解) the lnger it sits in the cean and is expsed t the sun. “This makes it nearly impssible t use abandned fishing nets directly,” Rathre explains. Besides, high-perfrmance smartphne, tablet, r PC has t be waterprf and can survive severe weather. The nyln in the fishing nets falls far shrt f that level f durability (耐用).
T deal with that prblem, Samsung last summer teamed up with tw partners: ne t cllect and transfrm the nets int tiny nyln pellets (颗粒) while the ther t strengthen their tughness and durability. The end result: The partners hit upn an ec-friendly and high-perfrmance plastic material that's being used t build the cmpnent parts fr its latest line f prducts. Fr example, tw parts f the Galaxy S22 mbile phne—the key bracket and the inner cver—are made f these fishing-net plastic materials. Samsung aims t use even mre upcycled materials in future prduct lines.
“That's the hpe fr the glbe and ur missin,” Rathre smiles.

    C. They can stand up t water and severe weather. D. They cntain materials recycled frm ghst nets.
    31. What can we learn abut Rathre's wrk?

    C. It prtects the planet frm chking n plastic. D. It raises public awareness f cean explratin.
    D
T figure ut if we can die f bredm, we first have t understand what bredm is. Fr help, I called James Danckert, a psychlgist wh studies bredm at the University f Waterl in Canada. “A lt f peple think abut being bred as being lazy. And it's abslutely nt that,” he says. “Bred peple want t be engaged with their wrld, eager t d smething satisfying and exciting. But any attempt t d s is failing.”

These physical changes were signs that bredm was stressing them ut. “It's nt like having a full-n panic attack,” Danckert says. But it's certainly enugh t make bredm unpleasant.
Let's cme back t if bredm can kill yu. Back in the 1980s, scientists asked peple wh wrked fr the British gvernment a whle bunch f questins, including hw bred they felt in their daily lives. The study tracked the participants ver time. When any ne f them died, the survey recrded the cause f death. In 2010, tw researchers matched up these causes f death with the participants' level f bredm. It turned ut that peple wh said they were mre bred were als mre likely t have died f heart disease. “We knw that prlnged expsure t stress is bad fr yur health,” Danckert says. A single bring day can't kill yu. But if yu're always bred, the stress culd add up int smething dangerus.
“Oh n,” yu might be thinking. “Schl is bring, my friends are bring, everything is bring! What's ging t happen t me?” Dn't wrry, Danckert says: “As yu get lder, yu get less bred,” mainly because yu gain mre independence and have t get busy t achieve yur lng-term gals. And trust me: that's anything but bring.
    32. Accrding t James Danckert, peple feel bred because ____________.
    A. they are t lazy t d anythingB. they can't gain excitement in life
    C. they are t frightened t have a tryD. they can't fully understand bredm
    33. What can we learn frm paragraph 2?
    A. Ding husewrk will make peple bred. B. Peple's heart rate increases with bredm.
    C. Physical changes can lead t extreme bredm. D. Watching smething sad is a bring experience.
    34. What des the underlined wrd “prlnged” in paragraph 3 mean?
    A. Cntinued. B. Repeated. C. Sudden. D. Active.
    35. What des Danckert recmmend t save peple frm bredm?
    A. Depending n friends. B. Setting lng-term gals.
    C. Keeping yurself ccupied. D. Trusting peple arund yu.
