This might be the reason why we all sometimes think “What happens next?”,“Why can't I think?”,“Why am I always given the difficult problems?”Well this is the result of our own karma(宿命)of using our brain for thinking of not-so-worthy things.

Now this seed is unknowingly used by you in your future to develop new ideas. The same seed if used many times, can help you link and relate a lot of things,of which you would have never thought of in your wildest dreams! This is nothing lout creativity. The more the number of books you read, the more your mind will open up.Also this improves your speaking skills to a large extent and also makes a significant contribution to your vocabulary.Within no time you start speaking English or any language fluently with your friends or other people and you never seem to run out of the right words at the right time.

22.(8分)Summer heat can be dangerous, and heat leads to tragedy far too often. According to kidsandcars, org, an average of 37 young children per year die of car heat in the US, when they are accidentally left in a hot vehicle.
For Bishop Curry, a fifth grader from Mckinney, Texas, one such incident hit close to home. A six-month-old baby from his neighborhood died after hours in a hot car. After hearing about her death, Curry decided that something needed to be done. Young Curry, who turned 11 this year, has always had a knack for inventing things, and he drew up a sketch(草图) of a device he called “Oasis.”
The device would attach to carseats and watch the temperature inside the car. If it reached a certain temperature in the car, and the device sensed a child in the carseat, it would begin to circulate cool air. Curry also designs the device using GPS and Wi-Fi technology, which would alarm the child’s parents and, if there was no response from them, the police.
Curry’s father believes that the invention has potential. “The cool thing about Bishop’s thinking is none of this technology is new,” he said. “We feel like the way he’s thinking and combining all these technologies will get to production faster.” His father even introduced the device to Toyota, where he works as an engineer. The company was so impressed that they sent Curry and his father to a car safety conference in Michigan.
In January, Curry’s father launched a campaign for the invention. They hope to raise money to finalize the patent, build models, and find a manufacturer. Their goal was $20,000, but so many people believed in Oasis’ potential that they have raised more than twice that--over $46,000.
Curry’s father remembers the first time he saw his son’s sketch. “I was so proud of him for thinking of a solution,” he said. “We always just complain about things and rarely offer solutions.”
1、What inspired Curry to invent Oasis?
A.His narrow escape from death after being locked in a car
B.His knowledge of many children’s death because of car heat
C.The death of his neighbor’s baby after being left in a hot car
D.The injury of 37 children in his school in a car accident
2、What would Oasis do if it was hot in a car with a child?
A.It would inform the parents or even the police
B.It would pump out the hot air in the car
C.It would sound the alarm attached to the car
D.It would get the window open to save the child
3、What does Curry’s father think is cool about Curry’s invention?
A.It used some of the most advanced technology
B.It simply combined technologies that existed
C.It could accelerate production of new technology
D.It is the most advanced among similar products
4、Why did Curry’s father start a campaign to raise money?
A.To conduct experiments to test the invention
B.To get other children devoted to inventions
C.To support a charity of medical aid for children
D.To get the patent and bring it to production

Here, you can find a rainforest-themed garden with about 1,000 butterflies surrounded by flowering plants and a six-metre grotto waterfall.

24.(8分) After four silent years, the 27-year-old British singer Adele Adkins has finally introduced herself to the world again with Hello, the opening song from her third album 25, which will come out on Nov. 20.
Although Adele is a very successful singer now, music wasn’t always what she saw herself doing. At age 10, when she saw her grandmother’s pain over the death of Adele’s grandfather, she pictured herself as a heart surgeon.
"I wanted to fix people’s hearts," she told the UK music website i-D, remembering the childhood interest she’d had in biology classes until she found out that her real talent was for singing.
Adele didn’t go to medical school, but many would agree that she still has healing(治愈) powers. "Her songs find the kind of memory every listener holds somewhere in their heart. This kind of feeling is what people have always liked in Adele," said The Telegraph. "She writes a pop diary, sharing the simple secrets of her heart."
Most successful pop stars make albums at a fast pace, but not Adele. After her second album 21 won the 2012 Grammy Award for Album of the Year, she made it clear with her label that she would spend "four or five years" making her next album. She told Vogue magazine, "I won’t come out with new music until it’s better than 21."
Instead of seeking fame, Adele remained silent and moved to the countryside. In her free time, she loved to watch TV series Teen Mom, American Horror Story, and The Walking Dead.
Living life as normally as possible is important to the singer’s art. "Nobody wants to listen to a record from someone who’s not living in the real world," Adele told i-D." So I live a low-key life for my fans."
1、What does the text mainly tell us?
A.The popularity of Adele’s album 25.
B.The healing powers of Adele’s music.
C.The secrets of Adele’s success in music.
D.The reason for Adele’s becoming a singer.
2、What does the underlined sentence in Paragraph 2 probably mean?
A.Adele wasn’t interested in music.
B.Adele wasn’t good at music at first.
C.Music wasn’t very important in Adele’s life.
D.Music wasn’t all Adele wanted to be devoted to.
3、Why doesn’t Adele want to make albums at a fast pace?
A.To live a low-key life.
B.To win the Grammy Award.
C.To guarantee the quality of her music.
D.To share the secrets of her heart as a musician.
4、What can we know about Adele?
A.Her album Hello will come out on Nov. 20.
B.She has kept a diary since childhood.
C.She moved to the countryside before 2012.
D.Her works are based on real life.
25.(10分) US scientists say they have poured cold water on the theory that washing hands with hot water kills more germs (细菌) than unheated water. The small study of 20 people found using water at 15℃ (59F) left hands as clean as water heated to 38℃ (100F).
National Health Service (NHS) recommends that people wash their hands in either cold or warm water. In this study, scientists at Rutgers University — New Brunswick wanted to find out if popular assumptions about the benefits of warm or hot water and official guidance on hot water — given to the food industry in the US — held true. They asked 20 people to wash their hands 20 times each with water that was 15℃ (59F), 26℃ (79F) or 38 degrees (100F). Volunteers were also asked to experiment with varying amounts of soap. Before they started the tests, their hands were covered in harmless bugs. Researchers say there was no difference in the amount of bugs removed as the temperature of the water or the amount of soap changed.
Prof Donald Schaffner said, “People need to feel comfortable when they are washing their hands but as far as effectiveness goes, this study shows us that the temperature of the water used did not matter.”
However, the researchers accept their study is small and say more extensive work is needed to determine the best ways to remove harmful bacteria.
In the UK, NHS experts say people can use cold or hot water to wash their hands. They say hands should be washed for at least 20 seconds and stress the importance of using enough soap to cover the whole surface of the hands. Their guidance focuses on rubbing hands together in various ways to make sure each surface of each hand is clean.
1、What does the underlined phrase “poured cold water” in Paragraph 1 probably mean?
A.Proved.
B.Contradicted.
C.Created.
D.Accepted.
2、After they washed their hands with either hot or cold water, _______.
A.volunteers all didn't feel very comfortable
B.volunteers all talked about American food industry
C.volunteers still had much germ on their hands
D.volunteers nearly had the same amount of germ removed
3、How do researchers feel about their study?
A.It is popular.
B.It is convincing.
C.It is incomplete.
D.It is abstract.
4、Which of the following is the best title for the text?
A.Using Cold Water Instead of Hot Water
B.How to Use Cold Water to Wash Hands
C.It’s Better to Wash Hands in Cold Water
D.Washing Hands in Cold Water as Good as in Hot Water
