It was really hard. “Wyatt,” I tried once more, “Mommy wants these scissors. Can you go get them for Mommy? It will make Mommy so happy if you bring me the scissors.” Wyatt slid down from his kitchen stool and ran off, leaving me shaking my head and wondering in exactly which way this situation was going to end badly. Five minutes later, I turned my head to see Wyatt coming down stairs, the missing half pair of kitchen scissors in one hand. I immediately ran over and hugged him. I took the scissors from him Wyatt! Thank you for bringing me the scissors! Good job! You did it! These scissors need to stay in the kitchen. These are Mommy’s scissors!” Wyatt laughed, looked me straight in the eye and said, “Mommy so happy!” I was in tears. I realized he was the best gift I had ever gotten though he was not as normal as other children. And why did I hide him from others as if he were some dark and terrible secret? No! He was my pride. 附:录音稿 (Text 1)M: Great running shoes! Where did you get them?W: At that new sports shop in High Street.M: They look expensive.W: Not at all. They were reduced from 50 pounds to 15 pounds 50.(Text 2)M: Is that tall man who looks a bit heavy your brother?W: Well, my brother is not very tall but thin. And he has short dark hair.(Text 3) W: I heard you visited our office in New York to get some ideas about how to expand our customers. Are you going to share your ideas at our marketing meeting tomorrow morning?M: Yeah. I’m going to take some time this afternoon to get all my information organized. (Text 4)W: Aren’t you going to wear a jacket today, Josh?M: Why, is it going to rain?W: On TV this morning they said it’s going to be windy. It will be sunny too, but cold. M: Oh, OK. I’ll take it to keep warm. (Text 5) W: Luck, do you know where your dad is?M: I saw him in the garden a few minutes ago. W: I’ve just been out there. Maybe he’s in the garage. M: I remember! He’s looking for something to repair the cupboard in the kitchen. (Text 6) M: Why don’t we go to the movies? We can see The Monster in the Computer. Tracy Baker stars in the movie.W: Well, there’s also River Adventure. Tom Webster’s a doctor in it. M: I know he’s a better actor than Tracy Baker, but River Adventure is a lot longer. If we see the shorter movie, we can have dinner after. W: OK. It looks much funnier too. And let’s go to the Super Burger for dinner. (Text 7)W: I’d like to purchase a ticket to Tokyo. Is there a non-stop flight available?M: There was a 12:30 flight that just left. Unfortunately, there won’t be another one for a while — the next one leaves at six o’clock. We do have a non-direct flight at three, though, there is a stopover at Chicago, but this would get you to your destination quicker. W: No, I’d prefer to fly direct. The wait won’t be a problem. I can use the extra few hours to walk around the downtown Washington, D.C. and do some extra sightseeing. The city is really nice.M: Certainly. I’ll book you on the six o’clock flight then. (Text 8) W: Can I take your order?M: Hello, Mary! You work here?! I come here all the time and I have never seen you before.W: I’m new here. I have worked here for a week now. M: So have you given up trying to be an artist?W: No, but I need the extra money. So I have been trying different part-time jobs since last year you know, shopkeeper, babysitter, salesperson and so on.M: Sounds interesting. My boss has been looking for someone to work as a part-time secretary for quite some time, so if this place doesn’t work for you, let me know.W: Thanks. So, what would you like? Have you tried the vegetable soup?M: Of course. I have been coming here for years. I know the menu well. (Text 9)M: Good morning, Penny. What’s the problem?W: Well, I don’t feel very well, doctor. After the toothache and headache three days ago, a terrible earache has been troubling me.M: I can give you a new medicine called Nopain, which is very good. You can get it at any chemist’s.W: Nopain? M: Yes. N-O-P-A-I-N. And you have to take the medicine after breakfast and supper. You don’t need to take it after lunch. And remember to take it always after meals. That’s very important.W: And for how long do I have to take it?M: You have to finish this bottle, so that’s five days. Come back and see me then.W: Next Monday? The first of September?M:No, not Monday, Tuesday. That’s the second of September.W: What time can I see you, doctor?M: You have to make an appointment with the receptionist outside.W: Thank you very much, doctor.(Text 10)W: The typical American diet is similar in many ways to the diet in Britain. English people and Americans both enjoy a breakfast of sausages, eggs and bacon. For lunch and dinner both of them often eat potatoes, meat and some vegetables. Both Americans and Europeans like to eat fast food. Pizza, French fries and hamburgers are popular among all ages because of their taste and convenience. However, Europeans and Americans differ in the amount of food they eat. A typical sandwich in America may contain five times more meat than a sandwich in England. A small lunch in America would be considered huge in England. Another difference is in the fact that Americans eat more junk food than Europeans. A supermarket in America may have up to 50 different kinds of ice cream and hundreds of kinds of chocolate. Americans eat more desserts and kinds of candy than Europeans.Research in America has shown that many Americans are overweight. In recent years, Americans have become more concerned about their weight and their eating habits have changed. Parents encourage their children to eat fruit instead of candy and to drink water instead of soft drinks. Health food supermarkets are popular and many Americans eat more Asian food, like tofu, because they know it’s good for their health. The American government encourages its people to be healthy because it can reduce the cost of health care in America.参考答案1. B 2. C 3. B 4. A 5. C 6. A 7. C 8. A 9. C 10. B 11. A 12. B 13. C 14. C 15.
