    Katharine Meyer Graham was nce described as "the mst pwerful wman in America." She was nt a gvernment fficial r elected representative, but she wned The Washingtn Pst newspaper. Under her leadership, it became ne f the mst imprtant newspapers in the cuntry.
    Katharine Meyer was brn in a rich family in New Yrk City in 1917. In 1933, her father had bught a failing newspaper, The Washingtn Pst. Her marriage was a tragedy. Her husband treated her badly and suffered frm mental illness, killing himself in 1963.

    In ur prgram tday, we’ll talk abut amusement parks. As places t have fun, they first appeared in the U.S. in the 1800s. Fr many years, the mst famus amusement parks in the wrld were n Cney Island, New Yrk. Arund the 1820s, Cney Island was a ppular place fr wealthy peple. In the late 1800s, it became ppular with wrking-class peple, t. Several amusement parks were built there in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Tday, ten millin peple a year still visit Cney Island, althugh mst f its attractins are nw gne.
    The U.S. amusement parks began t change in the mid-1900s. Befre that time, they were usually fund in cities. Nw they are mstly in the suburbs. Tday, mst amusement parks are called “theme parks”. Their rides, shws, restaurants, and shps fllw histrical r cultural themes. At mst U.S. theme parks, peple d nt have t pay fr each ride r shw. They pay nly t enter the park.
