Have you wondered what your pets are feeling? When your dog wags(来回摇摆)its tail, does that mean it is happy? A new app called Happy Pets can tell you what's going on.
The app uses artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze the facial expressions of cats and dogs. Then it can tell you what breed(品种)your pet is and how it is feeling. It can show the five most common feelings-happy, angry, neutral, sad and scared.
Researchers at the University of Melbourne in Australia developed the app. The key technology used in the app is facial recognition, a common use of Al. We can unlock our mobile phones or enter train stations with facial recognition readers. But this is the first time that the tech has been used with animals.
The app's AT was first taught to recognize a picture of an animal. Then, it was taught to recognize the facial features of cats and dogs. Next came the most important step-teaching it to detect(察觉)emotions based on certain facial features. For instance, if a dog tightens up its eyes and mouth while changing the position of its ears, this means the dog is scared. To master this skill, the AT program "saw" and "read" thousands of example images.
How accurate are the results? The researchers think they are trustworthy since the app has been tested many times. Interestingly, they have found that cats are harder to read than dogs. In the future, the app might also be able to analyze a pet's body to make its readings more accurate.
24. What is the app Happy Pets used to do?
A. To make pets happy. B. To tell us how the pets are feeling.
C. To recognize an animal's picture. D. To unlock our mobile phones.
25. What does Paragraph 4 mainly talk about?
A. What emotions the app can recognize. B. What certain facial features mean.
C. How people use the app. D. How the app's Al was trained.
26. What can we infer about the app Happy Pets?
A. It has been used with animals for a long time. B. It works harder on dogs than cats.
C. It uses facial recognition technology. D. It can analyze a pet's body.
27. What is the purpose of the author to write the passage?
A. Show how to make animals happy. B. Introduce a study on animals.
C. Show how to play with animals. D. Introduce a new app.

Shoppers around the world are crazy buying because of fears over the coronavirus(新型冠状病毒), which caused a critical plague in China and even other countries at the beginning of 2020. People in countries such as England, Japan, Singapore and Australia have been emptying supermarket shelves of toilet paper, face masks, hand wash products and dried and canned food. Photos and videos of shoppers in Australia quarreling over the last pack of toilet roll in a supermarket have spread across social media swiftly.
However, governments have advised their citizens that there is no need to "panic buy". They added that panic buying would only reduce the supply of products needed by patients and medical staff, which could exacerbate the problems the COVID-19 virus is causing. Singapore's prime minister comforted Singaporeans that: "We have enough supplies. There's no need to stock up." A week after the panic buying fever, things have calmed down and shoppers have gone back to purchasing items in normal quantities.
Psychologists say panic buying is an "unwise" behaviour that is part of a condition called FOMO一the fear of missing out. Dr. Katharina Wittgens said a herd mentality(从众心理)sets in during disasters that causes people to copy the actions of others. People watch the news of items being bought in quantity and immediately rush out to the stores to do the same. She said people were taking on too much the risks of dying from the coronavirus. She said: "Far more people die in car accidents or household accidents per year but we don't panic about these things in the morning before we go to work."
28. What is the reason for shoppers in different countries crazy buying?
A. The approach of 2020 New Year's Day.
B. The shortage of resources and supplies in their nations.
C. The discount from supermarkets.
D. Their concern about the virus.
29. What does the word "exacerbate" in Paragraph 2 probably mean?
A. release B. worsen C. solve D. quicken
30. What caused this behavior according to expert?
A. People think no one needs the supplies.
B. People do not believe what others said.
C. People tend to follow others' actions in the period of disaster.
D. People are wiser in making decisions.
31. What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A. People should not panic over the virus.
B. People want to do something different from others.
C. People buy little when they go to the stores.
D. More people die from car accidents.

Mankind's most famous "eye in the sky" turned 30 this year, taking a beautiful image of "space clouds" to celebrate.
The Hubble Space Telescope, known to most simply as "Hubble", was sent into space on April 24, 1990. The telescope, one of our best space exploration tools, uses a large mirror to collect light and direct it into a powerful digital camera. This allows it to see parts of outer space that are located 10 to 15 billion light-years away.
Each year on its birthday, the telescope takes a new image to celebrate. On its 30th birthday, Hubble took an image titled "Cosmic Reef". The picture shows two big clouds of cosmic dust and gas: the giant red nebula NGC 2014 and a smaller blue nebula called NGC 2020, according to Space. The title of the image comes from NGC 2014's appearance, as it looks like a large reef of red coral.
Hubble has made many important discoveries over the last 30 years. For example, the telescope helped us discover four of Pluto's five moons. This discovery made it possible to plan a mission for the New Horizons probe, which took never-before-seen images of Pluto in 2015. The telescope has also taken photos of pulsating stars. The regular pulses of light that come from these stars allow us to calculate the age of the universe, which is currently believed to be 13.7 billion years old.
But Hubble's work is not done yet. It is expected to continue working through the 2020s, when it will be joined by its successor, the James Webb Space Telescope, according to CNET.
32. What is the text mainly about?
A. How the Hubble Space Telescope works.
B. The Hubble telescope's 30th anniversary.
C. How the Hubble Space Telescope has helped us explore space.
D. How scientists chose the follower of the Hubble telescope.
33. What can we learn from the passage about the Hubble Space Telescope?
A. It was the best space exploration tool.
B. It was designed to be in service for about 40 years.
C. It can see the whole outer space.
D. The James Webb Space Telescope will take place of it soon.
34. How is the telescope's birthday celebrated each year?
A. By titling a new space picture. B. By naming a new nebula.
C. By taking a new image of space. D. By taking a new image of itself.
35. Where is the passage most likely to be found?
A. A magazine. B. A novel. C. A report. D. An advertisement.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Everybody yawns(打哈欠)-from unborn babies to great-grandparents. But why, exactly, do we yawn? 36
One theory is that when we are bored or tired, we just don't breathe as deeply as we usually do. 37 Therefore, yawning helps us bring more oxygen into the blood and move more carbon dioxide out of the blood.
Yawning, then, would be an involuntary reflex (something we can't really control) to help us control our oxygen and carbon dioxide levels. Sounds good, but other studies have shown that breathing more oxygen does not make us yawn less. 37 Hmmm. Now what?
39 Stretching and yawning may be a way to flex muscles and joints, increase heart rate, and feel more awake.
Other people believe that yawning is a protective reflex to redistribute(重新分配)the oil-like substance called surfactant (say: sur-FAK-tint) that helps keep lungs from drying up and caving in. So, if we didn't yawn, according to this theory, taking a deep breath would become harder and harder-and that would not be good!
But there is one idea about yawning that everyone knows to be true: 40 If you yawn in class, you'll probably notice a few other people will start yawning, too. Even thinking about yawning can get you yawning. How many times have you yawned while reading this article? We hope not many!
A. This theory indicates yawning, like a deep breath, helps us feel fresh.
B. Another theory is that yawning stretches the lung and lung tissue.
C. No one knows for sure, but there are many theories.
D. Yawning seems to be common.
E. It seems to spread.
F. As this theory goes, our bodies take in less oxygen because our breathing has slowed.
G. Likewise, breathing more carbon dioxide does not increase yawning.
