Global (全球的)warming is a big problem. One of the best things we do is to plant more trees.Trees can take in CO2 in the air and stop global warming. China is doing a great job of "greening" the world.
A team of scientists has been working with NASA to study Earth's green vegetation (植被). They used a special NASA camera and found that global leaf area had increased by 5 percent since the early 2000s.And according to the study, China was responsible for 25 percent of that gain (收获). That's about one-quarter of the size of the entire Amazon rainforest (亚马逊热带雨林).
The growth mainly came from China's forest protection programs, NASA said. For example, since1962, China has been planting trees in Saihanba, Hebei Province. It was once a desert. But now, China has turned the area into the country's largest man-made forest.
The Chinese public has also joined in these activities recently. Ant Forest gives users points for doing eco-friendly things. Users can then use these points to water and grow their own virtual (虚拟的)trees. When the virtual trees are big enough, Ant Forest will plant real trees somewhere in the world. More than 55 million trees have been planted in this way.
36. To stop global warming, planting trees is the only thing to do.
37. Scientists found that China has greatly increased its amount (数量)of green vegetation.
38. According to the study, 25 percent of trees in Amazon rainforest were planted by Chinese.
39. Saihanba is the largest man-made forest in China now.
40. The last paragraph tells us that why Ant Forest is popular in China.

If you look at the top of your phone, you'll usually see a little symbol that says 3G or 4G. The "G" stands for the "generation(代)" of your mobile network. But the symbols will become things of the past after 5G networks fully arrive.
On March 30, Shanghai Vice-mayor(副市长) Wu Qing made the first 5G video call on a HUAWEI Mate X Smartphone. Shanghai has also become the first city in China to start testing 5G networks.
About 100 times faster than 4G networks, 5G will let people download and upload data (数据) faster than ever before. But 5G won't just bring faster mobile Internet. People can use it for many other things as well.
For example, 5G will help to make self-driving cars safer. Today's self-driving test cars have one problem — lag (延迟). When the car "sees" an obstacle(障碍物), it sends this information to a data center and receives instructions. However, it will be some time before it sends and receives this information. With this kind of lag, the cars might crash because they don't receive instructions in time. With 5G, this lag will be greatly lowered, making the cars safer.
5G could also be used to power the Internet of things (IoT), that is, a large online network that connects all things and people. Fast Internet speeds will be the key to developing this technology. The IoT could be used in a lot of ways. For example, with IoT, your refrigerator could automatically (自动地) place an order online for eggs when it finds that there are no eggs left inside.
41.Which city was 5G tested in for the first time in China?
A. Beijing. B. Shanghai. C. Shenzhen. D.Qingdao
42.What can we infer (推断) according to the passage?
A. 5G is widely used in China now.
B. 5G networks will make our life more convenient.
C. There are no symbols at the top of our phones.
D. 5G networks won’t help to make self-driving cars safer.
43.The writer used self-driving cars as an example to _____.
A. explain how 5G's fast speed can be helpful
B. warn about the possible dangers of self-driving cars
C. explain how self-driving cars work
D. let people make sure that self-driving cars will be used at once
44.What is IoT according to the passage?
A. A robot that can do housework.

D.Instruction of things
45.Which sentence is right according to the passage?
A. 5G will help us buy eggs quickly.
B. Robots can help us buy eggs online.
C. With IoT, our refrigerator can order eggs online for us.
D. our refrigerator can make eggs for us

Last summer I went to one of the world's most famous historical places, the Forbidden City in Beijng, China. It was the home of the emperors of the last two dynasties (朝代) in China, the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
The Forbidden City was built in 1420. The palace has over 10,000 rooms. It was where the emperors dealt with the official business with their ministers.
In Mandarin, the Forbidden City is called the Purple Forbidden City. However, the color of the palace itself is not purple. The color purple stands for power of the great emperors of China. It was so sacred (神圣的) that the commoners could not even dream of ever going in.
The emperors also had some of the largest festival celebrations at the Forbidden City. During Chinese New Year, the emperor would invite all the members of his family and his officials to a banquet. The banquet had a hundred and eight Chinese dishes. It was such an expensive banquet that it could feed many commoner's families.
Right now the Forbidden City is known as a historical site for tourists from all over the world. Everyone can go there. It is a museum with priceless Chinese antiques (古董) and treasures in it.
I really learned a lot about the Chinese culture and its history from this trip to the Forbidden City. It was like a dream come true to go on the trip and see the things that I have always wanted to see.
46. How long is the history of the Forbidden City?
A. About 600 years. B. More than 700 years.
C. 1,420 years. D. Over 10,000 years.
47. We call the palace the Purple Forbidden City because the color purple is the symbol for ______ of the emperor.

49. Which of the following is NOT true about the Forbidden City in the passage?

C. It is a historical place for visiting. D. The emperor had festival celebrations there.
50. In the passage the writer wants to show us ______ of the Forbidden City by comparing its past with present.
A. the beauty B. the treasures
C. the changes in use D. the building process

将下列句子的序号填在横线上,使短文完整,选项中有一项为多余选项。
"The only constant (不变)in life is change," Heraclitus(赫拉克利特,哲学家) said in about 500 B.C. That could be more true today. 51 Technology is out of date almost by the time you buy it. We get plenty of information every day. Francis Bacon(弗朗西斯·培根,文艺复兴时期哲学家) said, "Knowledge is power." In fact, there is more information in a newspaper than he would have experienced in his whole life.
Why are we afraid of change? 52 After all, who knows what new dangers might appear? However, change is also the only way of development. Nobody can stop it in life.Luckily, our brains become stronger when meeting the unknown. 53 To be more imaginative and creative, you should look for and find environments you have no experience with.
54 For example, try a new restaurant, or go to a play or a concert you normally wouldn't attend.Small changes can help you gradually get used to uncertainties(令人无把握的局面). So when bigger things happen, you'll be more fully prepared for them.
People who fear change often stick to a certain lifestyle. They believe they can control the future by doing so. 55 If you can move from just accepting it to actively finding it out and dealing with it, you will be successful.
根据短文内容,从选项中选出能填入文中空白处的最佳选项,选项中有一项为多余选项。
A. People are thirsty for knowledge.
B. That's because our brains want to protect us.
C. But change comes whether you ask for it or not.
D. We live in a world that is changing every minute.
E. You can learn how to face the changes in daily life.
F. Dealing with the unexpected needs imagination and creativity.

“I've always had a pretty clear idea of what I want to do.”says Mary, a middle school student who wants to become a director some day. You may not be as sure of your career as Mary. But you can start thinking about and planning for your future career.
The following article helps middle school students plan for careers.
Explore your interests
Many middle school students don't yet know what they want to do. But in fact, students may change their minds several times, perhaps even after they enter society. And some of tomorrow’s careers might not exist (存在) today. In the middle school, it isn’t necessary to focus on just one job. But looking into the kinds of careers you might like can help you succeed.
① __________
Understanding what you enjoy and what you’re good at is the most important step in exploring careers. If you don’t know what you want to do, you should ask yourself what you like to learn about. If you really like science, what do you enjoy about it --- the lab work or the research? It’s important to think about what you like to do, because work will finally be a big part of your life.
Discover possible careers
Once you’ve thought about the subjects and activities you like best, the next step is to look for careers that put those interests to use. If you love sports, for example, you might consider a career as a P.E. teacher or a soccer coach. If you like English, a career as an English teacher, a translator or a travelling guide might be a good choice.
② ________________
After discovering possible jobs, you’ll want to learn more about them. Talking directly to workers on the phone, by email, or through online discussion can help you get information about what they do. 亲自与他们见面也是有帮助的。First-hand information is necessary for you to find out if you’ll really like a career.

Noah Webster was born on October 16 1758 in the West Division of Hartford where his father farmed and worked as a weaver. His mother was a housewife.
Few people went to college at that time but Noah loved so much to learn that his parents let him go to Yale, Connecticut's (康涅狄格州) only college. Noah graduated in 1778. He desired (渴望) to study law but his parents didn't have more money to send him to school. So in order to make a living, Noah taught in Glastonbury Hartford and West Hartford. Later he studied law.
Noah did not like American schools. Sometimes 70 children of all ages were crammed (挤满) into one-room schoolhouses with poor books and untrained teachers. Their books came from England. Noah thought that Americans should learn from American books, so in 1783 Noah wrote his own textbook A Grammatical Institute of the English Language. Most people called it the “Blue-Backed Speller” because of its blue cover.
For 100 years Noah's book taught children how to read, spell and pronounce words. It was the most popular American book of its time. Ben Franklin used Noah's book to teach his granddaughter to read.
When Noah was 43 he started writing the first American dictionary. He did that because Americans in different parts of the country spelled, pronounced and used words differently. He thought that all Americans should speak in the same way. He also thought that Americans should not speak or spell just like the English. Noah used American spellings like color instead of the English colour and music instead of musick. He also added American words that weren’t in English dictionaries like skunk and squash. He spent over 27 years writing his dictionary. When Noah accomplished (完成) his dictionary in 1828 at the age of 70, the first American dictionary came out. It had 70, 000 words in it.
Noah did many things in his life. He worked for copyright laws, wrote textbooks, Americanized the English language and edited magazines. When Noah Webster died in 1843, he was regarded as an American hero.
