    The cmmn practices fr lsing weight are:1) ging n a diet, especially eating less meat and rice; 2) ding physical exercises, such as jgging, swimming, etc.; 3) jining health clubs where physical activities such as yga, slimming exercises and aerbic dancing are taught; 4) using dietary prducts.
    The Truth abut Fitness Myths
    Many peple want t get and keep fit. Their intentin is gd, but the methds they use smetimes are nt. Over the years, directins like “eat less t lse weight” have been passed arund as gd advice. But in fact, such fitness methds are unhealthy -- and even dangerus. Unfrtunately, many peple want t lse weight s badly that they will believe any advice -- gd r bad. Here are fur f the mst cmmn myths abut getting and keeping fit.

    1. “If I just eat less, I will lse weight.” Many peple nly fcus n the amunt f fd they take in each day. They dn’t pay attentin t what they’re eating. S they may be eating less, but they’re nt eating healthily. Be sure t eat a gd balance f different fds, including vegetables, fruits, meat, milk, and bread r rice. What yu eat is just as imprtant as hw much yu eat. 2. “Running is all the exercise I need t lse weight.” Yu need aerbic exercise t burn ff yur extra fat. But that alne desn’t help yu get and keep fit. Yu must als lift weights t build muscle. Yu need bth t get the mst effective results.
    3. “If I build muscle, I will gain weight.” This is true. Muscle is denser than fat, s the same amunt weighs mre. But muscle als takes up less space. When yu replace fat with muscle, yu will lk thinner and better. 4. “The miracle diets n TV will help me lse weight.” These ads prmise a miracle slutin fr lsing weight. But usually the prducts dn’t live up t their prmises and can even be dangerus. Dn’t waste yur mney n them. What is the best way t get and keep fit?     Meaning: It is a regret that many peple want t have a better figure very eagerly, s much s that they will take any advice, n matter it is gd r bad. 不幸的是,许多人减肥心切,所以他们会相信任何建议,不管是好的还是不好的。Structural Analysis:s…that…:used t intrduce adverbial clause f result, meaning is “如此…以至于”,The sentence patterns can be “s+adj./adv.+that”, “s+adj.+n.+that”, etc. Fr example:

    Meaning f the Sentences
    另外s…that结构中的that在非正式语体中可以省略。在正式语体中有时也可以单用that表示“结果”。如:
    He must have been rude that the prfessr gt very angry.
    She was s excited that she didn’t knw what t say.
    She spke s quickly that I didn’t understand him at all.
    He is s hnest a man that he never tells lies.他是一诚实的人,从不说谎。

    Meaning: Many peple nly care abut hw much fd they eat every day. 许多人只关注他们每天摄入的食物量。fcus n: t direct ne’s attentin t (集中精力于…). Fr example:It is als pssible fr us t say “ fcus sth. n”…. e.g.

    Meaning: What yu eat is imprtant. The quantity f fd yu take in is equally imprtant. 吃什么食物和吃多少食物同样重要。
    What yu eat is just as imprtant as hw much yu eat.
    Structural Analysis: 这是一个包含as…as的比较结构,主句的主语和as-分句的主语都是名词性从句,一个是what引导的名词性从句,一个是hw much引导的名词性从句。as…as结构的基本模式是“as + 形容词或副词的原级 + as”。如:She is as tall as her father (is).He did the jb as well as we (did) .他的工作完成得和我们一样出色。文中的句子是比较常见的as…as结构,即主句的主语和as-分句的主语不同,而比较项目相同。我们再来看一些包含as…as结构的句子:
    a句和b句属于同一类型,即主句的主语和as-分句的主语相同,而比较项目不同;c句属于主句的主语和as-分句的主语不同,比较项目也不同的情况。as…as结构的另一种模式是“as much /many + 名词 + as”或“as + 形容词原级 + 名词 + as”。如:
    a) The by is as smart as he is brave.这个男孩既勇敢又聪明。
    b) The rm is as wide as it is lng. 这个房间长度和宽度相等。
    c) He is as mean as his brther is generus. 他很小气,不像他的兄弟那样大方。

    Mary is as brilliant a girl as Rse.
    I dn’t like as sweet cffee as this.
    Meaning: But if yu d that nly, yu will nt lse weight.alne: nly (仅仅, 只有)e.g. Time alne will tell what kind f persn I am. 只有时间才能说明我是个什么样的人。 I have save sme mney, but that alne is nt enugh fr a trip t Beijing. 我存了些钱, 但仅仅这些还不够去北京一趟。
    But that alne desn’t help yu get and keep fit.
    Meaning: Yu shuld maintain yur gd way f life fr a whle lifetime, nt a shrt perid.last: v. 持续, 维持e.g. China’s anti-Japanese War lasted ( fr ) eight years. 中国抗日战争持续了八年。 The sunny days will nt last lng; it is reprted t rain next week. 晴好的日子不好持续很久, 预报说下周就要下雨了。
    Make yur healthy lifestyle last fr a whle lifetime, nt just fr a shrt while.

    很多人都想健康苗条,他们的初衷是好的, 但有时采用的方法却不妥当。近几年来, 如“吃得少就能减肥”等观点被人们当成了好方法而广为流传。 但事实上, 这种减肥方法是不利于健康的, 甚至是危险的。 不幸的是, 许多人迫切渴望减肥, 以至于不管建议的好坏,一律深信不疑。这里列举四种最常见的有关减肥的误区。
    1.“如果我吃少点,就可以减肥。”许多人只关注他们每天摄入的食物量,却不重视他们吃些什么。所以他们可能吃得少了,但吃的食物不够健康。膳食一定要均衡,蔬菜、水果、肉类、牛奶、面包或米饭等都要有所摄取,你吃什么跟你吃多少一样重要。 2.“我只要跑步就可以减肥。”你需要做一些有氧运动以燃烧掉过多的脂肪,但是仅仅这类运动还不能帮助你减轻体重。你还必须做些举重练习以锻炼肌肉。如想获得最理想的效果,那这两类运动都得进行。
