第三、第四课时 Reading and Writing
一、教材分析
本课教学内容选自教材Unit 7 Reading and Writing部分,读写部分是一篇有关自然灾害和人类活动的议论文,文中主要提 到了三种因人类活动导致的自然灾害和应对措施,并提出了可持续发展对人 类和对大自然的重要性,呼吁人们注重环境保护并给出减少自然灾害的一些措施。要求学生能通过阅读文章找到细节信息,明确文章目的,通过细读文章提取文中自然灾害的原因和应对措施,能看到事实和观点并找到支撑信息,能使用相应的词汇和句型描述,自然灾害和环境保护,完成环保宣传海报。
二、学情分析
经过前两节课的学习,学生能识别关于自然灾害的词汇,并做简单介绍,能够意识到自然灾害有部分原因是来自于人类活动,但是缺乏语言积累,无法详细的描述自然灾害和人类活动的关系。进行开放性的思考和讨论还存在一定困难。
三、教学目标

通过本课的学习,学生能够
1. read articles about natural disasters and human activities, and identify the relationship between natural disasters and human activities through reading.
读懂有关自然灾害与人类活动的文章,通过阅读,能够识别自然灾害和人类活动之间的关系;
2. Through reading the article, students will be able to find out the details of the article, clear the purpose of writing the article; to determine the facts and perspectives, find the support information and make the opening thinking and discussion.
通过阅读文章找到细节信息,明确文章的写作目的;通过细读文章,提取文中自然灾害的原因和应对措施,能判断事实和观点并找到支撑信息,进行开放性的思考和讨论;
3.describe natural disasters and environmental protection and complete environmental protection posters.
描述自然灾害和环境保护,完成环保的宣传海报;
4.develop their language communication ability, thinking difference and perception ability in the workplace. By means of writing practice, students will be able to consolidate the language foundation and improve the quality of writing in the workplace.
通过阅读活动,锻炼学生的职场语言沟通能力和思维差异感知能力,通过写作,夯实语言基础,提升职场书面语言沟通的素养。
四、教学重点、难点分析
教学重点:能通过阅读,提取文中自然灾害的原因和应对措施,能判断事实和观点并找到支撑信息。
教学难点:能使用恰当的词汇与句型,进行开放性的思考和讨论,完成环保的宣传海报。
五、教学过程

Smog is partly caused by the gases from heavy industry and vehicles.

2): Experts tie the problem to the rapid urban development, and cutting down trees is another reason which is largely due to human activities. Some people do not pay enough attention to smog, and they don’t know it is partly caused by the gases from heavy industry and vehicles.
4) It is lucky that humans have realized the importance of sustainable development as well as the environmental protection, and things are getting better. We are promoting the use of green energy, planting more trees and trying to stop global warming. People are advised to use electric cars and public transportation.

*(1)铺垫活动:教师呈现常见灾害的图片或视频,学生仿照阅读材料,开展小组讨论列举人为原因造成的自然灾害以及其他应对的建议。
(2)教师提供必要的语言材料,引导学生讨论自然灾害产生的原因,反思人类活动对环境造成的影响。

As we know, Mudslide is a common natural disaster. It is caused by cutting too many trees. I think that we need to stop cutting trees and plant more trees.
Nowadays, more and more people suffer from skin cancer. One of the reasons is that they are exposed to excessive ultraviolet radiation(紫外线辐射). This is due to the hole in the ozone layer. Freon contained in air conditioners used by people destroys the ozone layer. For the sake of our health, we should try our best to use fluorine-free air conditioning.
The destructive power of the tsunami is amazing. This is because people cut too many trees. Human over logging has left the coastline unprotected. I think we should Stop deforestation and build an ecological barrier.

(3)核对答案,学生分小组,以接龙的形式完成图片描述。

(1)铺垫活动:以一篇小文章引入
Sandstorms have been a major disaster for many Asian countries for centuries. Scientists have tried many ways to solve this problem and in China, a mass campaign has been started to help solve it.
教师提问:Should we join the mass campaign?
What can we do?
It’s time to act. Let’s make a poster for it.
教师可采取多种方式引入,如:播放环保宣传的演讲视频,介绍“蚂蚁森林”等公益项目。
(2)学生分小组,仿照阅读材料,梳理语篇结构(现象、原因、解决措施),讨论宣传环境保护的海报的内容。
(设计意图:通过开放性的讨论引导学生思考并讨论人为造成的自然灾害有哪些,提出更多的应对举措,建议以此提升学生的思维素养和文化素养,培养分析能力,拓宽视野,进一步加深环保意识。)

Earlier this week, a thick layer of smog rolled into China’s capital city, turning skyscrapers into shadows and clear air into a yellow fog. Caught on a shoot by Chas Pope, the smog rolls in like a dust storm in a desert, billowing into the streets of Beijing.
Smog destroyed air quality in Beijing and 24 other Chinese cities this week, leading authorities to declare a national red alert for “severer frog” —the highest level of alerts.
This isn’t the first time that smog has blanketed China. In recent years, poor air quality in Beijing has closed schools and caused farmers in the region to panic(恐慌) over the lack of sunlight.
Why does smog keep blanketing Beijing? Smog in China has many causes, including pollution from industries and traffic. But burning coal has been linked to the largest number of air pollution deaths in China, causing 366,000 premature deaths in 2013.
China is taking steps to solve the problem. The government has restricted driving in an effort to staunch air pollution from cars. But that measure is temporary. Chinese officials announced this week that the country would spend $360 billion on renewable energy projects. But it has a long way to go. China is still the world’s largest consumer of coal by far, and plans to continue using the sooty source of power.
