【教学目的】
1. Students will crrectly use cnjunctins in appsitive clauses.
2. Students will tell the differences between the appsitive clause and the attributive clause.
【教学流程】
Step 1 Definitin
In this class, we are ging t learn smething abut the appsitive clause. First, we need t knw what is called an appsitive. Let’s lk at a sentence.
e.g. The by, Tm, is ur mnitr.
同位语:解释说明前面的名词,同等地位,同等作用
When we use a nun clause as an appsitive, we get an appsitive clause.
e.g. We heard the news that ur team had wn.
同位语从句
Can yu find the sentences with appsitive clauses frm the reading passage A TRIP ON “THE TRUE NORTH”? Nw,please pause the vide fr 3 minutes as yu read.
Frm the passage, yu may find the fllwing sentences:
= 1 \* GB3 ①The thught that they culd crss the whle cntinent was exciting.
= 2 \* GB3 ②Sme peple have the idea that yu can crss Canada in less than five days, but they frget the fact that Canada is 5,500 kilmetres frm cast t cast.
= 3 \* GB3 ③The girls were surprised at the fact that cean ships can sail up the Great Lakes.
Step 2 Cmmn antecedents
What are the cmmn antecedents that lead appsitive clauses?
e.g. 1. I have n idea when Chaplin’s film will be n again.
2. We were very excited at the news that ur team had wn.
3. The fact that wmen can wrk as well as men is clear.
4. Henry Adams made a prmise that he wuld nt pen the letter until 2 ’clck.
Cmmn antecedents include: thught, fact, idea, reasn, prblem, rder, dubt, news, wrd(消息), hpe, truth, wish, prmise, belief, advice, suggestin, pssibility, decisin, etc.
Step 3 Cnjunctins
What abut the cnjunctins in appsitive clauses? Have a clse lk at the fllwing clauses. What can yu find?

e.g. I have n ideawhich pen is mine.

why it happened.

Tip1: 如果同位语从句意义完整,用that连接; that在从句中不充当成分,不能省略。
Tip2: 如果同位语从句不完整,需用“是否”的含义,只用whether引导,不用if。
Tip3: 如果同位语从句意义不完整,需加“什么”“哪个”“谁”等连接代词,需用what ,which, wh等在从句中充当成分。
Tip4: 如果同位语从句意义不完整,需增加“什么时候”,“什么地点”,“什么原因”,“什么方式”,需用when, where, why ,hw 引导同位语从句。

定语从句
区别:
1、 同位语从句是对前面的名词作进一步解释、说明它是什么、是谁;that不充当句子成份。
2、 定语从句是修饰前面的先行词;that在句中充当主语或宾语,有实际意义。
