| Step1. Lead in Look and think: How do we ask directions?
Step2. Talk time Asking directions Read the conversation below and practice it in pairs. Pay attention to the words in blue. Read the conversation and answer the questions. How can Sandy get to the National Stadium? Where is the nice ski resort? How can Sandy get there? Where’s the railway station? How can Sandy get there? Read and tell how we can ask and give directions. How to ask directions? Excuse me. How can I get to …? Do you know where … is? Where’s … Is it far from …? How to give directions? Go down this road and turn left. Turn right at the second crossing. You can find the National Stadium on your right. It’s 30 kilometres away from the city centre. You can take a train to get there. You can get there by underground. It’s only five stations from the National Stadium. Do you know other ways to ask and give directions? How to ask directions? Is this the way to …? Can / Could you tell me the way to …? Can / Could you tell me how to get to …? How to give directions? Go straight ahead. It’s just around the corner. Take the first / second / … turning on the left/right. Turn right/left at the first/second/… crossing. It is on your right/left. You can see it in front of you. It is next to … Go on till you reach the end.

Step6. Writing Before writing What can you write about your favourite sport? What is it? How often do I play it? Where do I play it? Who do I play it with?
