    Grammar Gerund
    = 1 \* ROMAN I. 动名词概述
    动名词是一种非谓语动词,由动词原形加词尾-ing构成。动名词仍保留动词的某些特征,可以有自己的主语、宾语和状语等,并和它们一起构成动名词短语。动名词有否定形式、复合结构,也有时态和语态的变化。动名词在句子中具有名词的句法功能,可以作主语、表语、宾语和定语等成分。
    1. 动名词的构成:动词原形加词尾-ing,如ding。
    2. 动名词的否定形式:nt 加动名词,如:nt ding。
    3. 动名词的复合结构:名词所有格或物主代词加动名词,如:Jack’s being late;Jane’s ding或her ding。
    4.动名词的时态和语态一览表(以动词d 为例):

    1. 动名词的时态
    动名词的时态有一般式和完成式两种。如果动名词所表示的动作与句子的谓语动词所表示的动作同时发生,或发生在谓语动词所表示的动作之后,就用动名词的一般式;如果动名词所表示的动作发生在谓语动词所表示的动作之前,就用动名词的完成式。
    (1) The student nurse is busy preparing fr giving the patient an injectin.
    那位实习护士正忙于做给患者注射的准备工作。
    (2) Almst all the students enjy being praised by the teachers.
    几乎所有学生都喜欢受到老师的表扬。
    (3) I’ m srry fr having kept yu waiting fr me fr 2 hurs.
    很抱歉让你等了我两个钟头。
    (4) D yu remember having been taught hw t make the bed?
    你还记得有人教过你怎样铺床吗?
    2. 动名词的语态
    动名词的语态有主动和被动两种形式。如果动名词的逻辑主语是动名词所表示动作的执行者,则用动名词的主动形式;如果动名词的逻辑主语是动名词所表示动作的承受者,则用动名词的被动形式。
    (1)The patient came int the emergency rm withut being asked.
    没人请,那位患者就自己走进了急诊室。
    (2)After having been checked, she asked the dctr lts f questins.
    检查完毕,她又问了医生许多问题。
    (3)He insisted n being sent t where he is needed.
    他坚决要求派他到需要的地方去。
    但有些情况下,如:在need, want, deserve, require等动词和介词wrth后,可以用动名词的主动形式表示被动意义。
    (4) The ut-patient department needs rebuilding.
    门诊部需要重建。
    (5) The bk n nursing is wrth reading.
    那本护理方面的书值得读一读。
    = 3 \* ROMAN III. 动名词的句法功能
    1. 作主语
    (1) A little learning is a dangerus thing.
    一知半解,害人不浅。
    (2) Reading alud is very imprtant in learning English.
    大声朗读对学英语很重要。
    动名词作主语时,也可以用it作形式主语放在句首,而将真正的主语放到句末。
    (3) It is n use crying ver spilt milk.
    覆水难收。
    2. 作表语
    (1) Our duty is serving the patient whle-heartedly.
    我们的职责就是全心全意为患者服务。
    (2) Seeing is believing.
    眼见为实。
    3. 作宾语
    (1) D yu mind my clsing the windw?
    我把窗户关上,好么?
    (2) The head nurse suggested taking bld pressure first.
    护士长建议首先量血压。
    (3) We are lking frward t hearing frm yu.
    我们盼望着能早日收到您的回信。
    4. 作定语
    (1) After having taken the sleeping pills, he fell asleep right away.
    服下几片安眠药后,他马上睡着了。
    (2) I am als calm in the perating rm.
    在手术室里,我也很镇定。
