    Recently, a group of college students have translated the lyrics of over 60 Chinese songs into English in order to help foreigners better understand and enjoy local music. The team, named Melody C2E, is made up of some students from Shanghai International Studies University who share a love for Chinese culture, the English language and music.
    Pan Jianghao and Lin Hongying are the two founding members of Melody C2E.While Pan is mainly translating and singing these songs, Lin operates their WeChat account.” We feel that many Chinese people are quite familiar with the latest English songs while foreigners are not that familiar with Chinese songs, especially songs with a deep cultural background or complicated lyrics(复杂歌词),"said Lin.
    To bring out the beauty of Chinese songs and introduce them to foreigners, they posted their first song on WeChat in September 2016.     I was cycling(骑车) and saw a person about 250 meters ahead of me. I could tell he was cycling a little slower than me and I decided to try to catch up with him. I had about a kilometer to go on the road before turning off.

    I was cycling(骑车) and saw a person about 250 meters ahead of me. I could tell he was cycling a little slower than me and I decided to try to catch up with him. I had about a kilometer to go on the road before turning off.
    I started cycling faster and faster and with every block, I got just a little bit closer to him. After a few minutes I was only about 100 meters behind him, so I really picked up the pace and tried my best.
    Finally, I caught up with him and passed him. I felt so good. I “beat him”, but he didn’t even know we were racing.
    After I passed him, I found that I had missed(错过) my turn, had gone six blocks past it and had to turn around and go all the way back.
    Isn’t that what happens in life when we race with others, trying to outdo(胜过) them or trying to show that we are more successful? We spend our time and energy running after them and we miss out on our own paths.
    The problem with unhealthy competition(竞赛) is that it’s a never-ending cycle. There will always be somebody ahead of you in one way or another. What you should do is just run your own race and wish others well.
