英语的动词中，有的后面要接名词或代词等作宾语，有的单独作谓语，而有的动词要接作表语的形容词或名词等。我们把后面接表语的动词称为系动词。最常用、也是同学们最熟悉的系动词就是be；除be以外，很多感官动词，如feel, taste, lk等也可以当系动词使用。例如：
1. 这张床摸起来硬邦邦的。2. 饼干吃起来甜甜的。3. 你看上去累了。4. 牛奶闻起来有股馊味儿。5. 这主意听起来不错。

表感觉和知觉的动词有：lk, smell, taste, sund, feel, 相当于汉语的“看上去”、“闻起来”，“尝起来”，“听起来”，“摸起来”。 注意: 这类系动词与系动词be不同，其否定形式和疑问形式的构成要加助动词才行。如：
