    Students will be able t use different basic reading strategies like skimming and scanning crrectly in their reading prcess.

    a) Students can fster the interest and desire f learning English and be fnd f taking part in kinds f class activities.
    b) Students can learn abut big change f sciety brught by the internet.
    Key and difficult pints:
    Key pint:Help students get the details f the passage
    difficult pint:Let students t express their pinins n the internet; guide students t use the new knwledge in their daily life.
    Majr steps:
    Step 1 Lead-in (4mins)
    After greeting students, the teacher will shw the pictures and ask questins:
    1.What d yu think the text will say?
    2.Hw d yu think the writer feels abut the tpic?
    invited sme vlunteers t share their answers. After that, the teacher will give crrespnding cmments n students' answers and shw the tpic f this lessn.
    (Justificatin: The pictures is vivid and interesting, which can aruse students' interest in the teaching activity. Meanwhile, it can als intrduce the tpic tday naturally)
    Step 2 Pre-reading (5 mins)
    (1)With the help f PPT, the teacher will guide students t understand the meaning and usage f new wrds and sentences, including chat、stream……
    (2)Predictin
    Befre reading, the teacher will rganize students t make a predictin. Sme hints will be prvide t help them:
    Hint 1:Wrds and sentence just refered.
    Hint 2:Title f this metrial- Strnger tgether: Hw we have been changed by the internet
    Hint 3:Sme pictures in which students can see.
    (Justificatin: Thrugh abve activities, students will be prepared t read and can understand the material better.)
    Step 3 While-reading(20 mins)
    (1)Extensive reading
    a)Skimming
    Students will have 2-3 minutes t read the passage first time t check their predictin and cnclude the main idea f the passage.
    b) Scanning
    Students will read the passage again t lcate certain infrmatin and answer the fllwing questin:
    Read the text quickly and match the main ideas with the paragraphs.
    Para.1 Jan decided t start an IT club t teach lder peple hw t use cmputers and the Internet.
    Para.2 Jan has started taking nline classes t learn mre abut hw t use the Internet t make sciety better.
    Para.3 Peple's lives have been changed by nline cmmunities and scial netwrks.
    Para.4 Jan develped a serius illness which made her stuck at hme,but surfing the Internet helped her feel less lnely and bred.
    Para.5 Jan's life has been greatly imprved by the Internet.
    (Justificatin: Thrugh fast reading, students will have a general understanding f this passage.)
    (2)Intensive reading
    Students shuld read the passage fr the third time and d the fllwing tasks:
    1.Read the passage again and try t answer the fllwing questins.
    (1)In what way des the writer tell us that life has been changed by the Internet?
    (2)Why did Jan quit her jb?
    (3)Hw did the peple in the nline cmmunity help her?
    (4)Why did she start the IT club?
    (5)What is the “digital divide”?
    (6)What's Jan's next gal?
    2.List the ways in which the text says that the Internet has changed peple's lives.
    (Justificatin: Thrugh abve reading activities, students will nt nly understand the main idea and details f this reading material, but als imprve their reading abilities.)
    Step 4 Pst-reading (11mins)
    Grup discussin:
    Students need t wrk in grups t discuss the fllwing questin
    D yu think yur life has been changed by the Internet?If s,hw?
    by using the key wrds/phrases and sentences.
    Several minutes will be given. When time's up, several students will be invited t share their answers. Then the teacher will cmment n student's perfercece.
    (Justificatin: This task can aruse students' interest and invlve the whle class. Als, by grup discussin, they will be mre cnfident t share their pinins in public.)
    Step 5 Summary and hmewrk (5 mins)
    1. Summary
    Students shuld act as an assistant t cnclude what they have learned in this class, and then the teacher will make a summary tgether with students.
    (Justificatin: Reviewing the imprtant knwledge in this lessn can deepen students' impressin and frm gd study habits)
    2. Hmewrk
    (1)Retell the passage after the class.
    (2)Search the internet fr mre infrmatin abut the internet and share with thers next class.
    (Justificatin: Retelling can help students srt ut the curse cntent, and the task f cllecting infrmatin can help students actively explre mre knwledge and infrmatin)
