Free Talk Step1: Show Ss teaching goals. T: Morning everyone. Today we are going to learn to use the structure “ make sb.do sth.” and “make sb.+adj.”. Step2: Ask Ss to observe some sentences and find out the usage of “make”. (T gives Ss 2 minutes to observe the sentences and talk about the usage in groups. One member in the group can make a summary about their ideas and share to the class. T can ask Ss to share group by group.) Step3: T makes a summary and show the usage of “make”. T: Wow, you did a good job. Then let’s see the usage of “make”. (T shares the structure of “ make sb.do sth.” and “make sb.+adj.” one by one. Enough examples must be given to Ss to make sure they understand the usage fully. T can ask Ss to make sentences using these two structures to check Ss’ understandings.) Step4: Ss learn the difficult points of the structure of “make”. 1. be made to do sth. 2. make + sb. + title 3. make + O + done. (The structures above are difficult to understand, so more examples should be given, especially sentences related to the high school entrance exam. It’s best for Ss to do exercise about filling in the blanks with the right form. ) | ||

Step 1: Ask Ss to look at the pictures from P12-14 and make sentences with “make” Picture1: T: Look at the picture here. How do you feel when you look at the two dogs? Picture2: How does the snow make you feel? Picture3: Look at the pictures and make sentences with “make”. 4a Ask Ss to complete the diary using the appropriate words. Suggested answers: feel sad, anxious, upset, nervous, glad, happy 4b Ask Ss to do a survey and fill in the blanks. Q1: What makes you happy? Q2: What makes you want to cry? Q3: What makes you uncomfortable? Q4: What makes you angry? Q5: What makes you nervous? Q6: What makes you feel like dancing? (First, T explains some words like uncomfortable, nervous to Ss. Then Ss write down their answers about the questions given in the table. Third, Ss ask two of their deskmates about the questions above to finish the survey. At last Ss share voluntarily, and T gives his or her comments. Or T can share his or her answers about these questions. When Ss are sharing, T must correct their sentences to the correct form.) Step 3: Ask Ss to do answer the questions according to the pictures from P19-P23. P19: What makes you happy? P20: What makes you want to cry? P21: What makes you nervous? P22: What makes you nervous? P23: What makes you feel like dancing? (Before Ss share, it’s better for T to ask what these pictures are about. T can ask with these sentences like : What kind of movie is it? Ss are interested in this way of teaching, and I think the class is effective and interesting too. However, in in this PPT, some of the exercises are similar, T can choose what exercises to do based on Ss’ level. | |
