A
Social media is a big part of most people’s lives. There are social apps and sites like WeChat and Sina Weibo, as well as video apps like Douyin and Kuaishou. How do you behave when you use these apps?
Recently researchers at the University of Sussex, UK, studied social media users ranging from 10 to 15 years old. They found that they can be divided into four personality types.
Geeks(极客)
Geeks are active social media users, but they find it mush more difficult to deal with the life in the real world. Most of them are boys who like playing computer games and making music and videos. They often post creative works online, using fake(假的) names. In fact, they should avoid spending too much time on the Internet.
Internet celebrities(网红)
Internet celebrities like sharing as well , but they are much more visible (看得见的) than geeks. They might become well-known for their singing or dancing. But many of them, especially teenagers, share almost every side of their lives in order to own more fans. Being a teenage Internet celebrity can sometimes cause problems in the real world.
Lurkers(潜伏者)
The first two groups are lucky to find a place to show their talent. But most teenagers fall into the third type "lurkers", or people who are neither too active nor visible. This group prefers WeChat over Sina Weibo, as WeChat has private groups. They can’t express themselves well but at least they make sure to protect their personal information.
Victims(受害者)
Victims don't have enough knowledge to keep themselves safe online Their personal information can be made public and cause problems for them. To avoid being a victim, you should check your personal settings on social media. "Friends only" is a good choice for your posts. Don’t share your personal information.

45. What's the purpose of the writer?
A. To describe four personality types of social media users.
B. To teach social media users to use different apps.
C. To offer tips for social media users.
D. To show he has good knowledge of Internet.

It is reported that 1,101 manatees(海牛) died in Florida last year, many from hunger. So last December, government wildlife experts came up with a plan to give food to the manatees. They decided to feed them green vegetables like lettuce and cabbage. Ron Mezich, an expert, said, "We're making a difference." So far, they have served up more than 193,000 pounds of lettuce to hungry manatees. But as the weather is getting warm, the program is expected to end soon.
Manatees are huge sea animals that only eat sea grass and other plans that line in the sea. That sone reason why they're sometimes called "sea cows". Since 1967, Florida's manatees have been on the US government's list of endangered animals. Most dangers to manatees come from humans. One of the biggest problems facing the animals are boats. Manatees are curious and fairly slow. That has led to thousands of manatees being hit or killed by boats. At one point, there were only about 2,000 manatees let in Florida. With protection, the number increased. In 2016, there were more than 6,000 manatees.
However, as sea grass began to disappear, the number of manatees keeps going down again. Warming seas with polluted water have created huge growths of algae(藻) on the ocean's surface. The algae stops the sunlight that allows the sea grass to grow. In Indian River Lagoon, where manatees often go in the winter, about 90% of the sea grass beds there have died off. Long term, Florida will work to help restore(恢复) sea grass beds. But that will take time. Scientists still worry that hundreds more manatees could starve this winter.
46. How has the number of manatees changed over years?
47. Which shows the correct order of the causes of manatees' death in the last paragraph?
A. sea pollution → growth of algae → death of sea grass → death of manatees
B. growth of algae → sea pollution → death of sea grass → death of manatees
C. sea pollution → death of sea grass → growth of algae → death of manatees
D. growth of algae → death of sea grass → sea pollution → death of manatees
48. What is the meaning of the underlined word "starve"?
A. to be hit by boats B. to eat up sea grass C. to die from hunger D. to lose swimming ability

I wasn't raised to be a fan of snails(蜗牛). With my grandmother being a gardener, my brother and I were told from a young age to remove them when we saw them. This brought us the kind of joy that only children experience. We loved it. Finding a snail? It was a garden treasure hunt. Catching it? Easy-they hardly move!
As I've grown older, my view on snails has changed. They bring me a different kind of happiness–one that I can't necessarily say my grandmother would be proud of.
I'm not an anxious(焦虑) person on the outside, but internally(内在地). I'm often filled with thoughts of worry and fear. Yoga and meditation(冥想) haven't helped. Snails, on the other hand, have been my good medicine.
Snails are probably one of the best, if not the best example of taking life slowly. They can't help it of course. But no matter whether it's their choice or not, snails take life at a steady(平稳) pace. One time, I was relaxing in my garden and noticed a little snail moving by. I quickly picked it up, placed it in my palm(手心), and watched. I was attracted.
In a strange roundabout(迂回的) way, snails make me want good for myself.
Trying to navigate(找到正确前进方向) the world as an ambitious(有志向的) but anxious woman in her late 20s has provided the perfect foundation for becoming a world-class over thinker. For example, I've been going after a career path that is very different from what I studied at university and I'm not certain how I feel about it. But, once I start to question my decisions, I quickly remind myself of how lucky I am to have been able to get an education and to have these choices in the first place. Episodes(插曲) of doubt aren't fun and it's easy to feel helpless. But to live a steady and slow life, like a snail, is the best way to feel better.
While snails may not be for everyone, I think it's important we all find our version of a snail. Whether it is a person, an animal or a theory, anything that encourages us to want to take care of ourselves and see world's beauty is a good thing.
49. How did the author feel about snails when she was young?
A. Afraid. B. Interested. C. Angry D. Bored.
50. Why does the writer regard snails as good medicine?
A They are delicious.
B. They are medicine to treat her anxiety.
C. Following their lifestyle has made her feel better.
D. Their speed is similar to the pace of yoga and meditation.
51. Why does the author mention her career path in paragraph 6?
A. To show how lucky she was to get the job.
B. To introduce the difficulties in her career.
C. To explain the lesson she has learned from snails.
D. To complain that her career has progressed as slowly as snails.
52. What does the writer want to tell us in this article?
A. Never give up on your dream.
B. Remember to relax once you’re tired.
C. Stress always goes with motivation(动力).
D. Live slowly to enjoy the beauty around you.

One of the most powerful tools you can use to improve your reading comprehension is mind mapping. (53) _________
The first step is to draw a circle or box at the center of the page. (54) _________ For example, if you were creating a mind map about the geography of the United States, then you would write down "the geography of the United States" in the middle of your page inside your circle.
Next you draw branches from your central idea. Much like a tree grows branches. Simply draw a line moving away from the central theme. In the case of the geography of the United States, you would probably draw 50 lines. Each line represents one of 50 states. These are the main categories(分类) with your primary concept. (55) _________ These would represent the main example under each category. For example, under the line titled, "Texas" you would find lines called Austin, Houston, and Dallas, you might draw a series of lines to stand for some of its main sections like, "South Dallas" and "Highland Park". You go on drawing your mind map much like the structure of branches on a tree.
(56) _________ They enable you to quickly see relationships between main ideas, categories, examples, and details that might otherwise be missed if you use more traditional note taking strategies(策略).
A. It is possible to create maps by simply using a pen and paper.
B. You can draw more circles if it is necessary.
C. Inside your shape, write down the main idea that your mind map will focus upon.
