    I've been a vlunteer in the Macmillan@ Glasgw Libraries prgramme fr just ver a year. I gt invlved because I was lking fr smething t vlunteer fr after I retired frm wrk. I thught being a Macmillan Cancer Infrmatin and Supprt Vlunteer might be a gd way t d that by using sme f the skills I learned at wrk.
    At ne time, I felt I made a real difference when a lady came in t use the service. She was very upset, but she was nt the persn with cancer. It was her partner. She had lts f things n her mind. We, tgether with a cunselr, had a chat abut her t help deal with all the emtins (情感) she felt. We knew we culd arrange smething, s we discussed with her what culd be dne fr her family. She was relieved that we culd get smething arranged fr her and liked the fact that we managed t get the ball rlling during her visit.
    The gd thing abut having the services in the library is that the envirnment is nn­clinical and therefre mre relaxing than the hspital r dctr's surgery. The team in the library are nt medically trained. That means we d nt use big wrds r medical terms very ften.
    It's great that the peple wh vlunteer all wrk well tgether, helping each ther t get a reslutin fr peple wh cme in. It's gd t have the team at the ther end f the phne whenever we get smething unusual. It is a pleasure t be able t help as a vlunteer.

    As time went n, we ften went thrugh Old Man Dnvan's farm, and he kept n giving us mre luscius fruit. One day, we stpped by t see him when he was n his frnt prch (门廊). We talked t him fr hurs.
