一般说来，审题需要考虑五个方面：
下面以2017年高考全国Ⅰ卷书面表达题为例：
假定你是李华，正在教你的英国朋友Leslie学习汉语。请你写封邮件告知下次上课的计划。内容包括： 1. 时间和地点； 2. 内容：学习唐诗； 3. 课前准备：简要了解唐朝的历史。注意： 1. 词数100左右； 2. 可以适当增加细节，以使行文连贯。
1.审文体：2.审主题：3.审人称：4.审时态：
5.审要点：(1)写信目的：告诉你下次汉语课的计划。(2)时间地点：我们将在何时何地上课。(3)学习内容：我将帮助你学习唐诗。(为什么学唐诗？具体内容呢？)(4)课前准备：简要了解唐朝的历史。(其目的何在？)
审题最重要的还是不要漏掉要点，漏掉要点是肯定要扣分的。而要点不仅仅是题中所列要点，还需注意以下几点：
(1) 题中所列要点前的“情景说明”一定要认真读且要读懂。如本题的写作目的，即信的开头一句就是来自情景说明。
(2) 如果信是写给跟你不是很熟的人，一定要先自我介绍。如2016年全国Ⅰ卷书面表达，是给外教写信求助，老师的学生多，第一句要自我介绍，如“I’m Li Hua frm yur English writing class last term.”，让老师一看就清楚是谁写来的信。 (3) 如果题中本身没有给出信的结尾，有必要加上适当的尾句。如“Hpe t hear frm yu sn. ”“I’m lking frward t hearing…”等。
(4) 段与段之间，句与句之间，要注意语义衔接，过渡自然，在写作过程中要适当增加细节、关联词和过渡句等。 因此，要点要齐全，需记住：
情景说明不能少，恰当结尾有必要； 开头过渡要自然，所有要点才齐全。
