If you’re looking for a job full of fun, sunshine, horses and like-minded people, then this is the role for you! Teaching riding at camp in the USA is a great way to spend your summer.
Riding programs differ from camp to camp. Some will be basic, such as hacking out (骑马溜达) and pony (矮种马) rides, whereas others will be much more advanced, including show jumping and competitions. All instructors will be required to ride at a decent standard and have some knowledge in horse care, but typically the more advanced your skills are, the more advanced program area you can expect to work in.
You can expect to teach all ages and abilities of riders whilst also maintaining the care of the horses, including mucking out (清理马厩), feeding, etc. Most camps will also do stable management lessons for the campers, so that they can truly understand what it takes to look after a horse, and not just learn to ride. Horse Riding Instructors are required to arrive before orientation in order to get the horses ready for the campers’ arrival.
What’s included?
Full onsite training is provided.

Carl Allamby, owner of two auto-repair shops with 11 employees, had become anxious and desirous of something more. At first, he thought it must have to do with growing his business even further. Therefore, the Ohio resident decided to go for his university’s degree in business management.
After taking classes part-time over the next five years, Allamby was told, unexpectedly, he had to take biology to get his degree. It turned out to be best thing that could have happened. The biology class rekindled a childhood dream that he had put away somewhere deep within himself. “After the first day, I remembered this feeling of wanting to be a doctor back,” Allamby says.
Growing up in a poor African American neighborhood, he faced low expectations and numerous barriers to pursuing his dream. His school didn’t offer the advanced science classes that might have led him on a medical path. Even if it had, doing well in school could prove dangerous — students who brought books back home would always be robbed (抢劫). So he set aside thoughts of becoming a doctor in favor of a more realistic career path — fixing cars.
Years later, a different Carl Allamby, with the support of his wife and family, decided to skip business school in favor of the science classes he'd need for a second career as a healthcare worker.
And in 2015, Allamby cut ties with his past, selling his two shops and everything that was in them. Then he started at Northeast Ohio Medical University. At the age of 47, as a medical doctor, he took a job in emergency medicine at Cleveland Clinic Akron General.
“I am told that I shouldn’t be a doctor”, he says. “Whether it’s because of my age, my race, my upbringing or my past career, these are all good reasons why I shouldn’t be here. And yet, here I am.
24. Why does Carl take business management classes?
A. Because he wants to meet more potential employees.
B. Because he wants to be respected by his employees.
C. Because he wants to improve his company’s business.
D. Because he wants to be qualified for a professor’s job.
25. Which of the following is the closest in meaning to the underlined word “rekindled”?

B. The dangerous crimes in Africa.
C. Lack of the access to some key courses.
D. Lack of the money to buy advanced textbooks.
27. Which word can best describe Carl Allamby?
A. Gifted.

Due to climate change and changes in land use, wildfires are predicted to rise by up to 14 percent by 2030, 30 percent by 2050 and 50 percent by the end of this century, and even areas once considered safe from major fires such as the Arctic, will “very likely” experience a major increase in burning, according to a new report by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).
The report, Spreading like Wild fire: The Rising Threat of Extraordinary Landscape Fires, says that wildfires and climate change are “mutually worsening.” Wildfires are made more serious by climate change through increased drought, high air temperatures, low humidity (湿度), lightning, and strong winds. Meanwhile, climate change is made worse by wildfires, mostly by damaging, sensitive and carbon-rich ecosystems like rain-forests.
Wildfires can threaten people’s health and lives, pollute water, destroy crops and reduce land available to grow food. Costs of rebuilding after areas are struck by wildfires can be beyond the means of low-income countries. Wildlife, as well as natural habitats, is also rarely spared. All these slow progress towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
While the situation is certainly extreme, it is not yet hopeless. The publication calls on governments to adopt a new “Fire Ready Formula”, with two-thirds of spending devoted to planning, prevention, preparedness, and recovery, with one-third left for response. Currently, direct responses to wildfires typically receive over half of related expenditures (花费), while planning and prevention receive less than one percent. “We have to minimize the risk of extreme wildfires by being better prepared: invest more in fire risk reduction and shift from passive response to prevention and preparedness,” said Inger Andersen, UNEP Executive Director.
Setting up data and science-based monitoring systems, strengthening regional and international cooperation, restoring ecosystems and thinning forests around areas where nature and human living spaces meet are just a few suggested examples of investments into prevention, preparedness and recovery.
28. Why does the author speak of the Arctic?
A. To introduce the climate change of it.
B. To stress the importance of protecting it.
C. To warn people of the wildfire damage.
D. To show the rising tendency of wildfires.
29. What does Paragraph 3 mainly talk about?
A. Wildfire control.
B. Rebuilding costs.
C. The possible damage.
D. The slowing progress.
30. Which might be an example of investments into prevention and preparedness?
A. Calling on more people to donate money.
B. Surrounding busy towns with thick forests.
C. Investing more money in putting out wildfires.
D. Restoring wetlands as well as wildlife species.
31. What can we learn from the report?
A. Wildfires and climate change worsen each other.
B. The researchers are pessimistic about wildfire control.
C. Prevention receives half of related spending currently.
D. Many governments have adopted “Fire Ready Formula”.

When people think of farming today, they usually picture a tractor (拖拉机) rather than horses in the farmland. That’s because tractors that relied on engines revolutionized farming in the late 1800s. Now a new type of tractor can do the same in the 21st century.
Agriculture has been changing dramatically in the last few decades. The push for innovation is fed by the need to produce larger amounts of food for a growing world population. Autonomous tractors may be the key to solving this challenge. They can be used to carry out labor-intensive farming while allowing farmers to do other work. A big plus is that it can increase crop output while reducing costs because the autonomous machines can work in all weather conditions without any rest.
Part of push for automation is a shortage of farm workers due to people’s desire to have higher paying jobs with better work conditions. Farm owners are competing against companies like Amazon and restaurants that are raising wages to attract workers. “With labor shortages and the increase in the hourly wages that have to be paid in order to be competitive, all of a sudden automation seems like a more reasonable decision,” said David Swartz, a professor at Penn State University.
Many believe the time is ripe for an autonomous revolution because robotics is already in use in agriculture. One company that is working to bring autonomous tractors into mainstream farming is Blue and White Robotics, an Israeli agricultural technology company, whose mission is to make a fully autonomous farm. The company released an autonomous tractor kit in February 2021 that can be fixed on any existing tractor. The kit includes camera detection, speed controls, as well as an anti-crash system. Blue and White’s kit is being used by West Coast growers in the US. It may soon come to a farm near you.
32. What contributes to the agricultural revolution according to Paragraph 2?
A. The urge to feed more people.
B. The extreme weather conditions.
C. The need to reduce farming cost.
D. The desire for automatic farming.
33. What is Swartz’s attitude to automation?
A. Critical.
B. Negative.
C. Supportive.
D. Indifferent.
34. What can be inferred about Blue and White's kit?
A. It has been widely used.
B. It can be made in many firms.
C. It can improve safety of tractors.
D. It will detect the way of farming.
35. What may be a suitable title for the text?
A. Automation Is Transforming Agriculture
B. Big Companies Are Making A Difference
C. Driverless Tractors Are Worth Investing
D. Traditional Farming Is Falling out of Date

As is known to all, build good relationships with others is critical in our society. When it comes about personal relationships, I’d natural think of my relationship with my mother. She often told me that I can be anyone I want, as long as I’m confidence of myself. She sees my talent and pushes me to do the best I possibly can. I respect for my mother so much for she treats me as an equal instead of child. She gives me the free to make mistakes and to learn from it. Unlike friendships what can fade and break, I know I’ll always be connected with my mother whatever I face.

W: I’d like to join the Music Club but it’s full up.
M: I hear that there are some places left in the Art Club. What about that?
W: Oh, that sounds nice.
(Text 2)
W: You have to finish your dinner before you leave the table.
M: But, Mom, I can’t eat anymore. I’m full.
W: What’s the matter? It doesn’t taste good?
M: It’s not that I don’t like your cooking, but I ate some cookies before we have dinner.
(Text 3)
M: I’ll do anything as long as it means getting out of here.
W: Well, I don’t think changing your environment will make things better. You should learn to be content with the place where you are first.
(Text 4)
W: Hey, Tom! Do you want to go to the park for a walk?
M: Sorry, I can’t. I’ve got to go to some department stores with my family.
W: I thought you did that yesterday!
M: We were going to, but my little brother got sick.
W: Well, I guess I’ll have to ask someone else, then.
M: Sorry. Maybe we can go another time.
(Text 5)
M: Is your brother working in this restaurant?
W: Yes, he is. I can’t see him, though.
M: Is that him over there wearing a golden tie and a black vest?
W: No, my brother is taller and heavier than him.
M: Is that him over there? He is in an orange shirt and a black apron.
W: Yes, that’s him. He’ll be surprised to see me here.
(Text 6)
W: Hi, how is everything with you?
M: Good! Thanks, how about you?
W: Good! Where are you working now?
M: At a shoe factory. But I’m trying to find another job.
W: Really? Why?
M: You know? I’ve been working there for more than 16 years, but I can’t even buy a house.
W: But do you like the job or the people?
M: Yes, of course. The place is nice and the people are nice too.
W: Well, if you like the job and the workplace, I suggest that you apply for a house loan.
M; But applying for a loan is tiring and complicated, isn’t it?
W: Absolutely not. Let me help you.
M: Oh, you are so considerate! Thanks a lot!
(Text 7)
W: Hey, Sam, what happened to you? Don’t tell me you broke your leg!
M: No, it’s not that terrible. I just twisted my ankle. Still, it hurts a lot.
W: So when did it happen?
M: It was during the night of the basketball championship. And the worst thing is that we lost the game and all hopes of winning our title back.
W: What a pity! Sit down here for a minute and tell me all about it,
M: Well, it all happened last Thursday...
(Text 8)
M: What time is it, Sylvia?
W: It’s seven fifty.
M: Huh, my watch loses ten minutes. Maybe it’s the battery.
W: Oh, that reminds me. I should let you know how absent minded I was.
M: What was that?
W: Well, a few mornings ago, when I woke up, it was already seven thirty. I thought I had slept through the alarm.
M: Seven thirty! That didn’t give you much time, did it?
W: No, it didn’t. I took a quick shower, put on my clothes, and ran all the way here.
M: Did you make it in time?
W: Yeah, I think I got here right at eight. But there was one problem.
M: What was that?
W: There were no students; I was the only one here!
M: Oh, no! Let me guess. It was Saturday!
W: That’s right. I need a clock that tells me what day it is.
(Text 9)
M: How are you going in the Big Apple?
W: Not good. I’ve been depressed lately.
M: I’m sorry to hear that. Are things getting you down?
W: I don’t know what it is. I feel like I am out of my element. Sometimes I get dizzy and feel like the room is spinning.
M: You’re probably experiencing culture shock. Don’t worry. Things will get better in time.
W: I do miss my family, home-cooked meals, the farm animals, and the peaceful starry nights.
M: Want to rent a Mexican movie in Spanish? That might cheer you up.
W: That’s a good idea. My heart is thirsty for home, so that just might work.
M: How about going to Taco Bell for some authentic Mexican food? Ha! Ha! Just joking.
W: Funny, funny. You’re a good guy. Thanks for being my friend.
M: No problem. If you ever need someone to talk to, I’m always available.
(Text 10)
M: Japan is one of the world’s best travel destinations. Unfortunately, most budget travelers don’t visit Japan because they figure it’s too expensive. What they, and perhaps you, don’t know is that a vacation in Japan can be quite affordable. Here are some tips to help you save money. First, you should avoid peak travel time. There are three major holiday periods in Japan: the New Year holidays, the Golden Week holiday season — April 29 to May 5 and the Obon Festival season—three days centered on August 15. Second, consider buying a bus pass if you plan on doing a lot of sightseeing. This will save your money since bus passes typically offer deals when you purchase them. Third, while Japan has plenty of enjoyable sightseeing attractions that are free, most museums and temples charge for admission at least a few hundred yen. Many attractions offer children and seniors discounts. Child rates typically apply to those under 12 and senior discounts apply to those of 65 and over. The most important thing to remember is that you are wise with your choices and you avoid unnecessary things that you do not need. Then you will be able to enjoy Japan without spending all of your savings.

an introduction to sth.“对某物的介绍”,所以此处应用名词introduction,故填introduction。
由than可知,此处应用valuable的比较级more valuable,表示“更有价值的”,故填more valuable。
not only..but (also)...
故填that。
1. build改为building 2. about改为to 3. natural改为naturally 4. told改为tells 5. confidence改为confident 6. 删掉respect后的for 7. of后接a 8. free改为freedom 9. it改为them 10. what改为that/which
故将about改为to。
这里指对自己有信心,be confident of oneself,此处形容词作be动词的表语,故confidence改为confident。
故删掉for。
故应在of后面加a。
故将it改为them。
故将what改为that/which。
