讲授新课 | Task 1 (PPT4-5) 1. Describe each picture. Picture 1 The large photo is of Lake Moraine in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada, about 14 kilometres from Lake Louise. Like Lake Louise, Lake Moraine is fed by glaciers and gets its unique blue colour from rock flour. The mountains behind the lake are in the Valley of Ten Peaks, and they are famous throughout Canada because for many years they were on the Canadian $20 bill. Though the lake can only be reached by hiking trail, it is one of the most photographed places in Canada. The top right photo is of a man and a woman skating on Lake Minnewanka in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. The lake is about 5 kilometres north of the town of Banff, and can be easily seen from the highway. The middle right photo is of young ladies roasting marshmallows on sticks over a campfire while one of them is playing a ukulele, a musical instrument from Hawaii. The bottom right photo is of a woman hiking in a forest in British Columbia, Canada. The trees are Douglas firs. Task 2 (PPT6) Before you listen, guess what they will be talking about. Answers: They will probably be talking about a beautiful alpine lake, going skating on a frozen lake, going camping, and going hiking in a forest. Task 3 Listen to the conversation and answer the simple questions.(PPT7) 1. What is mentioned in the listening? 2. Could you list some key words? Answers: 1. A conversation takes place between LiDaiyu, Liu Qian and Anna, a Canadian traveler on the train. 2.Lake Louise、climate of Canada (in winter and summer)、geography of Canada (mountains, the Prairie、lakes、forests)、Winnipeg、activities in Winnipeg、Daiyu and Liu Qian's first long train journey. Task4 (PPT8) Listen to the conversation again and answer the detailed questions. 1. What do people do when Louise freezes over in winter? 2. What does Anna say about Canadian summers? 3. How far is it from Edmonton to Winnipeg? 4. What kinds of things do people do in Winnipeg? 5. What other long rail journey have Li Daiyu and Liu Qian taken? Skiing, hiking, camping, and city things like movies or restaurants on the weekends. 5. They travelled from Beijing to Moscow on the Trans-Siberian Railway through Mongolia. Task 5 (PPT9-10) Listen to the conversation again and find out more details. 1. What kind of climate do many areas of south Canada have? 2. What is the mark of this kind of climate? 3. After they leave Edmonton, what kind of land will they be in? 4. After they leave Winnipeg, what kind of land will they be in? 5What kind of place is Winnipeg? 6. What is the name of the train line between Beijing and Moscow?

D:The most convenient way is to take a plane to Nalati Airport, but I do suggest you fly to Yining first. You can rent a car and drive all the way to the Grassland.
