Task
设计说明 通过对前期所学的伟人的描述让学生快速回顾,同时导入本课所要介绍的人物袁隆平。要求学生带着问题浏览袁隆平的资料,快速找到自己所需信息并分析文章结构。通过活动让学生说一说最崇拜的人物以及崇拜他(她)的原因,学生有机会比较、使用各种复杂句、复合句,为后面的写作做铺垫。通过搭建框架,让学生总结出文章层次及各层次的内容要求并自主完成写作任务。 教学目标 通过本课节的教学,让学生达成以下目标: 1.知识目标 掌握词汇:hybrid, title, agriculture, hunger, advantage, contribution, increase, production, development, work as, die of, happen to, be introduced into, at present 2.能力目标 (1)读懂有关袁隆平的笔记,了解他的贡献; (2)利用笔记补全短文。 3.情感目标 学习袁隆平精神——专注中国梦、实现中国梦。 重点难点 1.重点:掌握描述名人几个主要方面的词组和句式。 2.难点:完成一篇介绍名人的文章。 教学准备 PPT课件;相关图片 授课时数 1课时 教学过程 Step 1 Lead-in 1. Ask students to talk about Marie Curie. Who was she? Marie Curie. What did she do? She was a famous scientist. Why is she famous? Because she was the first woman to win the Nobel Prize. 2. Introduce Yuan Longping. Who is he? Yuan Longping. What does he do? He is a rice scientist and a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Why is he famous? Because his achievements have increased rice production by 20%-30%,and in some places even more.
Step 2 Presentation 1. Read and complete Amy wants to write about Yuan Longping, a rice scientist. Ask students to read the information she has found and complete the table.
2. Ask and answer Ask students to read Amy’s notes and ask questions to each other. Encourage students to come up with proper questions as many as they can to catch more details about“Father of Hybrid Rice”. e.g. A: When was he born? B: He was born on 7 September 1930. A: What did he do after graduating from college? B: He worked as a teacher in an agriculture school. A: Why did he begin research into hybrid rice? B: Because he saw people die of hunger. A: What is he considered? B: He is considered the “Father of Hybrid Rice”. A: How much rice did the new type of hybrid rice plant produce? B: It produced 20%-30% more rice per unit than common kinds. A: Why does the writer admire him? B: Because he has spent all his life on the research and development of better rice plants. He has solved the problem of hunger for many people. A: ... B: ... Step 2 Drills 1. Read and complete. Amy is writing her article. Ask students to read the article and help her complete it. Use the information in Part A on page 32 to help them. I think Yuan Longping, a rice scientist and a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, is one of the greatest people that have ever lived. He was born on (1)__________. Paragraph. 2 Write some detailed information about Yuan Longping. Paragraph. 3 Explain why Amy admires Yuan Longping. What detailed information does Amy write about Yuan in Main body? She writes about Yuan’s date of birth, education, job, major events happened in his life, prizes and achievements. 3. Ask students to find good words and sentences that the writer uses. Read the article carefully and try to find some good words and sentences that Amy uses. Para 1 Name and title I think... is one of the greatest people... Now it’s your turn to write about the person you admire most. How many paragraphs are you going to write? What is each paragraph about? Step 3 Language points 1. saw people die of hunger, so began research into hybrid rice 看到人们死于饥饿,所以开始研究杂交水稻 die vi. 死亡,生命结束 die-died-died,dying death n. 死亡 dead adj. 去世的 dying adj. 垂死的 【注意】 (1) die是终止性动词,不可与时间段连用,若与时间段连用可用be dead。 He has been dead for ten years. 他已死了10年了。 (2) die用于进行时态时,意为“快要死去”。 He is very ill and I’m afraid he’s dying. 他病得很重,恐怕他快要死了。 【拓展】辨析:die of与die from 两者都有“因……而死”之意。 (1) die of 因……而死 ,强调内因,如疾病、年老或饥饿等。 She died of hunger. 她死于饥饿。 (2) die from 由于……而死,强调外因,如环境、灾害、事故等。 She died from a car accident last year. 她去年死于一场车祸。 2. happened to find a natural hybrid rice plant that had many advantages over others 碰巧发现了一株与其他水稻相比拥有许多优势的自然杂交水稻 (1) happen vi. 发生;happen to do sth happen to sb某人发生(什么事) What happened to you? 你发生什么事了?
