设计说明 学会预测文章的内容是本单元的学习技能要求。此处对文章内容进行预测,既能解决部分生词,又能激发学生对科幻故事的阅读兴趣。通过快速阅读,帮助学生整体理解文章主要内容。在回答问题的过程中,根据语境理解文章内容。通过提问的方式,帮助学生理解故事发生的背景;通过表格的形式,帮助学生理清文章思路,要求学生能清晰地掌握机器人的优点和缺点。在学生理解课文的基础上,引导他们进行更为深入的思考,并把自己的生活与机器人相联系,激发他们的想象力和创造力。 教学目标 通过本课节的教学,让学生达成以下目标: 1.知识目标 掌握词汇: order, smoothly, satisfy, need, properly, complete, mess, lay, store, coin, bill, private, paper, spread, wheel, in general, no longer 2.能力目标 (1)了解机器人可以怎样改变我们的生活; (2)认识并理解与机器人共处的有关词汇和表达; (3)了解拥有机器人的利与弊。 3.情感目标 引导学生自主深入思考机器人在人类生活中的地位。 重点难点 1.重点:理解并掌握本课涉及的词汇和句子。 2.难点:利用所学内容和自己的思考谈论理想中的机器人。 教学准备 PPT课件;相关图片 授课时数 2课时 教学过程 Step 1 Lead-in 1. Show students some pictures. We have learnt something about robots. Do you remember how robots could help us? Ask students to talk about robots.

Ask students to listen to the article as a whole. Daniel is very interested in robots. He found an interesting story in this month’s Robot magazine. Here is the story. Ask students to listen to the article and answer the following questions. (1) Whose robot will we talk about? (2) What did he do with the robot at last? Answers: (1) Mr Jiang’s. (2) He returned it to the shop. 2. Ask students to read and answer the questions. Ask students to read the first paragraph and answer questions. It’s not necessary to read each paragraph carefully. It is useful to read the first sentence of each paragraph to get the main idea. (1) What is Mr Jiang? (2) What is his problem? (3) What did he do to solve his problem? Answers: (1) He is a manager of a big company in Sunshine Town. (2) He is always too busy to have any time to relax. (3) He ordered a robot from a robot shop. 3. Ask students to read the article and work out its structure. Ask students to read the article carefully and match the main idea with each part. Part 1(Para. 1) The robot helped Mr Jiang a lot. Part 2(Paras. 2-4) How did Mr Jiang deal with the robot? Part 3(Para. 5) Why did Mr Jiang order a robot? Part 4(Para. 6) The robot made too much trouble. Answers: 4. Ask students to read Paragraphs 2-5 and complete the lists. Daniel is thinking of the good and bad points of having a robot. Ask students to read Paragraphs 2-5 and help him complete the lists below using the information in the story.

He is always too busy to have any time to relax.他总是太忙而没有时间放松。 too +adj./adv. +to do sth 太……而不能做某事 I was too excited to sleep well.我太激动而睡不好。 The question is too difficult for me to answer .这个问题太难我回答不了。 2. I have to buy a robot so that I can have more free time… 我必须买个机器人,这样我就能有更多的空闲时间了…… so that +句子 为了做某事 (表目的)。相当于in order to do sth。 本句也可改写为: I have to buy a robot in order to have more free time… The teacher was standing among us so that she could hear us very clearly. In order to improve his English, he joined an English club. 3. The robot made Mr Jiang’s life much easier. 那个机器人让江先生的生活轻松多了。 (1) make sb do sth / adj. 使某人做某事/怎么样 (2) much / even +形容词或副词的比较级 ……得多 Mr Jiang made the robot do all the housework, and that made him much happier.江先生让机器人做所有的家务活,那使得他高兴多了。 4. It would go shopping at the supermarket as well. 它也会去超市购物。 as well也/还会。用于肯定句句末,其前无逗号。 (肯定句的“也”用too, 否定句的“也”用either) He can play the piano and sing as well. 他会弹钢琴,也会唱歌。 If you go swimming tomorrow, I will go too. 如果明天你去游泳,我也去。 If you don’t go out tomorrow, I won’t go either.如果你明天不出去,我也不出去。 5. When Mr Jiang returned home from work, his flat would look as good as new... 当江先生下班回到家时,他的公寓看起来简直跟新的一样…… as +adj./ adv. + as…像……一样…… look as good as new 看上去像新的一样/看上去焕然一新 I washed my old car and now it looks as good as new. 我洗了我的旧车, 现在它看起来像新的一样。 6. That allowed Mr Jiang to do whatever he liked. 那使江先生能做他喜欢做的任何事。 do whatever he liked 做他喜欢做的任何事 do whatever they are asked to 做他们被要求做的任何事 In fact, nobody can always do whatever he liked. 事实上,没有人能够总是随心所欲。 The robots can’t do whatever they are asked to. 机器人不可能做它们被要求做的任何事。 7. It seemed that in general the robot satisfied Mr Jiang’s needs. 看来这个机器人大体上满足了江先生的需求。 (1) satisfy sb’s needs 满足某人的需求 satisfy v. 满足 satisfied adj. 感到满意的 be satisfied / pleased / happy with sth对某物感到满意 (2) need n. 需要的事物;欲望; v. 需要 In general, this product satisfied most customers’ needs. 总的来说,这个产品满足了大部分顾客的需求。 His boss was satisfied with his job because of his hard work. 由于他努力工作,老板对他的工作很满意。 8. When Mr Jiang got home, he would find his flat in a complete mess... 当江先生回到家,他会发现家里乱作一团…… (1) in a mess一团糟,乱七八糟 make a mess搞得一塌糊涂 His master found his flat in a complete mess. 他的主人发现他的公寓一团糟。 (2) complete adj. 完全的,彻底的 completely adv. 完全地 The operation was completely successful.这台手术完全成功。 Step 5 Homework 1.
