Period 4(Section B 2a-2e)设计说明 本节课通过看图片复习上节课内容,充分利用多媒体课件中的图片学习本课时的生词及短语,为下面的阅读扫清障碍。在阅读过程中,用电影《127小时》中的片段引入故事。让学生直观地体会故事发生时的情境,并通过各种活动帮助学生养成良好的阅读习惯。最后,通过小组活动提升学生对知识的综合运用能力。教学目标 1. 知识目标 (1)掌握单词和短语:breathe,sunburned,ourselves,climber,risk,accident,situation,kilo,rock,knife,blood,mean,importance,decision,control,spirit,death;be used to,take risks/take a risk,run out(of),cut off,get out of,be in control of,give up。 (2)阅读并理解课文“He Lost His Arm But Is Still Climbing”。 2. 能力目标 通过阅读课文,培养学生一边阅读一边记录生词进行后续语言学习的习惯,学会通过事件发生的时间顺序梳理文章脉络并锻炼复述故事的能力。 3. 情感目标 通过阅读课文中关于Aron Ralston的故事,培养学生顽强的意志品质和果敢独立的精神,以及热爱生活、珍惜生命、永不放弃的精神。重点难点 1. 重点: (1)本课时的单词和短语。 (2)学会通过事件发生的时间顺序梳理文章脉络并锻炼复述故事的能力。 2. 难点: 通过阅读课文“He Lost His Arm But Is Still Climbing”提升学生的阅读理解能力及合理运用阅读方法和技巧的能力。教学准备 1. 准备与本课时词汇有关的图片及关于Aron Ralston的图片及资料。 2. 准备多媒体课件。教学过程 Step 1 Warming up & Leading in Show the class some pictures of health problems to practice the following conversation. T:Good morning,boys and girls! Let’s ask and answer in pairs like this. A:What’s the matter with...? B:He/She... A:What should he/she do? B:I think he/she should... Look at the pictures about sports.(Show some pictures to the students.) T:What sports are they? S1:Soccer,mountain climbing and swimming. T:Good. Thank you. Please turn to page 6. Step 2 Presentation 1. Read the instructions in the box in 2a. 2. Teach the new words:breathe,sunburned,ourselves. 3. (1)Play the video of the movie 127 Hours. Students watch it and feel the difficult situation,and know something about Aron Ralston. While reading. (1)Fast reading. Read the passage and underline the words you don’t know. Then look up the words in a dictionary and write down their meanings. And then answer the two questions. ①Who is Aron Ralston? He is an American man who is interested in mountain climbing. ②What is the passage about?(B) A. How to climb mountains and have fun. B. It means being in a difficult situation that you cannot seem to get out of. Read Para. 1 and finish the mind map of Para. 1. Read Para. 2 and learn what Aron did and how he saved himself. Finish the mind map. Read Para. 3 and finish the mind map. Read Para. 4 and discuss the following questions. Then show the opinions. Q1:What is the spirit of Aron? Step 5 Cooperative inquiry Discuss the following language points in groups and fill in the blanks. 1. have problems doing sth. 意为“做某事有问题/困难”。类似的短语还有:have trouble doing sth. “做某事有困难”。 The old man has a heart problem,so he often has problems breathing(breathe). 2. be used to doing sth. 意为“习惯于做某事”;used to do sth. 意为“过去常常做某事”;use sth. to do sth. 意为“用某物来做某事”。 I used to get(get)up late. We use the knife to cut(cut)the apple. 3. because可引导原因状语从句,常用来回答why提出的问题;because of 是短语介词,其后可跟名词、代词或名词性短语。 (1)Because he is ill,he doesn’t go to school today. (2)He is not at school because of his illness. (3)He can’t come because of the heavy rain. (4)We like physics because we can learn a lot of ideas. 4. run out意为“用尽,耗尽”,主语是被用尽的物;run out of也意为“用尽,耗尽”,但其主语是用尽某物的人。 (1)他的食物昨天吃完了。 His food ran out yesterday. (2)他昨天吃完了食物。 He ran out of his food yesterday. 5. so +形容词/副词+ that从句,意为“如此……以至于……”,that引导结果状语从句。so that引导目的状语从句,意为“以便,为了”,从句中常使用can/could/would/should等情态动词。 (1)他年龄这么小以至于不能照顾自己。 He is so young that he can’t look after himself. (2)我早早起床以便能赶上早班公共汽车。 I got up early so that I could catch the early bus. 6. keep on doing sth. 意为“继续做某事”,表示今后或将来继续做某事。 We must keep on working(work)hard in the coming new year. 7. give up 意为“放弃”,为“动词+副词”结构的短语,若宾语是人称代词,要放在give与up之间。 (1)Lily gave up learning(learn)Chinese.
