He has mentored seven national-level technique experts and a team of 14 technique “masters”. One of his students, Guo Jinpeng, who graduated from the institute in 2007, became a college teacher at the Chengdu Auto Vocational and Technical School and was named a national role model teacher in 2019.Li’s nomination as one of the “most beautiful teachers” reflects that China is focusing on the importance of vocational education and aims to foster more leading personnel with the spirit of craftsmanship in the manufacturing industry. At an international vocational and technical education conference in Tianjin last month, Li noted that there is no difference between vocational education and ordinary education, and “vocational education is not “secondary” nor should it ever be treated as less than ordinary education”. “Vocational education has the mission of fostering a quality workforce and technical experts for the country. The hardworking spirit is the key to building any ordinary people into leading personnel,” he said.Li joined the institute in 1993 and later founded a machinery engineering practice center, providing free training to 7,500 people a week. In 2015, he led a team of teachers to work for 40 days to renovate 124 machine tools in the center. Li has devoted himself to building the country’s first additive manufacturing technique and application center at the institute to satisfy the thirst for the country’s human resources in 3D printing.4.Which of the following is a suitable title for the text?A.China Sponsoring Annual Award for TeachersB.China Aiming to Develop More Leading PersonnelC.Vocational Teacher to Be Awarded as “Most Beautiful Teachers”D.Different Education Training Different Kinds of Students5.Why does the author mention Guo Jinpeng in paragraph 2?A.To make a comparison with Li Jianguo. B.To show the achievements of Li Jianguo.C.To praise national-level technique experts. D.To publicize national role model teachers.6.What is Li’s opinion about vocational education?A.It is a good way of winning awards. B.It is not as good as ordinary education.C.It should develop qualified and skilled talent. D.It has nothing to do with hardworking spirit.7.Which of the following best describes Li’s job at the institute?A.Boring. B.Well-paid. C.Difficult. D.Creative.CThere is a kind of climate pollution that we can’t see clearly. It isn’t in our rivers, lands or skies, it is in our minds. When climate disinformation goes unchecked, it spreads like wildfire, undermining the existence of climate change and the need for urgent action.Like the biosphere that sustains us, the health of our information ecosystems is vital to our survival. As an artist, I feel a responsibility to create new ways of seeing the disinformation that has come to define the age of fake news.Social media sites are honed to grab our attention. Using sophisticated algorithms, the corporations behind them decide what billions of people see around the world, dictated by what keeps you hooked, but also by what the companies paying social media sites choose to put in front of you.Powerful corporate actors deploy clever influence campaigns via ads targeted at specific users based on what social media firms know about those people. Major oil and gas companies have spent billions of dollars over the years persuading consumers about their green proofs, when only 1 per cent of their expenditure in 2019 was on renewable energy. This is known as corporate greenwashing. Still, fossil fuel firms maintain that their climate policies are “responsible” and “in line with the science”.To expose the scale of corporate greenwashing online, I was part of a team that recently launched Eco-Bot.Net. Co-created with artist Rob “3D” Del Naja of the band Massive Attack and Dale Vince, a green entrepreneur, Eco-Bot. Net’s AI-powered website ran throughout the COP26 climate summit, exposing climate change misinformation by releasing a series of data drops for heavily polluting sectors, including energy, agribusiness and aviation.Academic definitions of climate disinformation and greenwashing were used to unearth posts across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and visualize them on our website. Eco-Bot.Net then flagged greenwashing ads and posts on the original social media site with a public health warning.By digging into our data, journalists have already revealed that companies are targeting specific demographics in order to influence public perceptions about climate change – and even alter government policy. One data drop focused on the 100 biggest fossil fuel producers, companies that have been the source of 71 per cent of global carbon emissions. It found that 16 of these companies ran 1705 greenwashing and climate misinformation ads globally on Facebook and Instagram this year. In total, they spent more than £4 million creating influence campaigns that generated up to 155 million impressions.Social media companies could end most of the harms from climate disinformation on their platforms if they wanted to. Flagging systems were swiftly introduced to warn users of posts containing disinformation about covid-19. The scientific consensus on human-caused global warming has been resolute for decades, so why can’t a similar flagging system be implemented for related disinformation? It is true that Twitter and Facebook have both introduced climate science information hubs, but these are little more than PR exercises that fail to directly tackle climate disinformation on any kind of scale. This epidemic of climate change disinformation on social media is eroding collective ideas of truth. In this post-truth age of disinformation, we hope that the public, the press and policy-makers will be able to use our data findings to see what is hidden by what we see online. For the first time, we can witness the regional scale of corporate greenwashing. The era of climate denial and delay is largely over — except, as Eco-Bot.Net has revealed, on social media.8.What does the word “undermine” in the first paragraph mean in the passage?A.Dig holes in the ground. B.Make sth weaker at the base.C.Increase or further improve. D.Put a stop to sth.9.The author used the case of major oil and gas companies in Paragraph Four in order to ________.A.give the readers a precise definition of corporate greenwashingB.show the dishonest claim by fossil fuel companies on their responsible climate policiesC.demonstrate the huge investment the corporations made to exert powerful influence on the targeted social media users based on algorithmD.emphasize the tens of millions of dollars spent on renewable energy10.Which of the following industry contributes most to climate change?A.energy B.agribusiness C.aviation D.social media11.What is the author’s opinion of social media?A.They are willing to help but feel powerless to do so.B.They have the ability to make a change but refuse to do so as there are controversies over climate changes.C.They have the ability to make a change and have made some sincere but fruitless efforts on it.D.They lose their integrity in face of the money from the big corporations.DWe know it’s good to learn another language, and it’s fun too. But to improve our language skills, many of us have to endure hours of school lessons or evening classes, with our heads buried in textbooks. It’s no wonder that technology appears to be providing a better and more accessible way of learning. There is certainly a huge demand for language learning, and having a smart phone means you can have a virtual teacher with you wherever you go. Many app developers are keen to earn money on the demand, and there are numerous learning apps available. Some educational apps offer languages not popular enough to be taught at evening classes, or at most universities. And others offer “invented” language courses in Esperanto, Elvish and Star Trek’s Klingon — lessons you might not find in a traditional classroom. Whatever you want to learn, apps allow you to go at your own pace and fit learning around other tasks. But they’re not perfect — you might not get your head round the grammar and will lack the partner support you could get in a classroom environment. So, does technology imply the end of traditional classrooms and teachers? Guy Baron, head of modern languages at Aberystwyth University, thinks not. He thought that apps should be used alongside traditional classroom methods. And he adds: “The apps are not formal. . . they’re not designed for degrees, but they could be additional resources.”Certainly, technology is going to help in and outside the classroom. But attending a real lesson, facing a real teacher, probably forces you to be more devoted. Motivation can be a problem when using an app. But if you have a genuine and practical reason to learn another language, you will no doubt stick with it.12.What is the benefit of language learning apps?A.You can learn with a partner.B.You needn’t pay any money.C.They provide grammar lessons.D.They meet your personal demands.13.What do the underlined words refer to in Paragraph 3?A.Languages. B.Learning apps.C.Universities. D.Teachers.14.What is Guy Baron’s opinion about the learning apps?A.They are of no help to learners.B.They will replace traditional teaching.C.They provide the most effective resources.D.They should be combined with classroom methods.15.Which does the author think is important in using the learning apps?A.The instructor. B.Confidence.C.The classroom. D.Motivation.第二节(共 5 小题;每小题 2.5 分,满分 12.5 分)阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项 为多余选项。The martial art of Tai Chi is on the rise as more and more people discover the benefits that come from regular practice.____16____With its gentle movements and focus on forms, it' s also a good way to relax and calm the mind while it energizes and build the body.____17____"Chi" means energy, and it's the focus on energy that makes it different from other martial arts. It was a home run that soared (急升) high and away, and ended up breaking Old Lady Ferguson's kitchen window! We all ran!Walking home, my best friend, Tom, asked, “How will she ever know who did it? She's blinder than a bat!” I decided to stop by Grandpa's. He must have known something was up by the expression on my face. I felt ashamed. I wanted to hide. I wanted to bang my head against a tree a thousand times and make the world just go away- as if punishing myself could undo things. I told him about it. He knew we had been warned many times about the dangers of playing where we shouldn't. But he just listened. “I was wrong, I told him, with my head down. “I hate myself for what I did. I really blew it. Is there a way out? Will she call the police?”“Well,” he said, “she has a problem, just like you. I'll bet if she knew you cared, she would be sad to know that you're afraid of her. I'll bet she wishes you would give her a chance... a chance to be understanding, It's your decision, ” he said, shrugging his shoulders. “Just so I don't say the wrong thing, is the plan to pretend nothing happened? Grandpa asked,"If you were Mrs. Ferguson, what would you do?” I remained silent for a while and had no idea what I should say. I felt a bit nervous and at a loss. I could not imagine what Mrs. Ferguson would do if she knew the truth. "Maybe if I were her, I would expect that the boy who did wrong should stand out to tell the truth and face the consequence bravely." I said with such a low voice that I could barely hear myself. But deep in my heart, I knew that it was the right thing. “Doing what's right is not always easy, ” Grandpa said, handing me the phone. I gathered all my strength and bravery and took it. I dialed her number and deep in my mind I imagined all the bad situations I could face. However, when I confessed what I had done and said that I called her to say sorry, she just smiled and said she had already known it. She praised me because I called her to apologize. Hearing this, I felt relieved and understood that it was actually not so difficult to do the right thing.
