    设计说明

    首先通过一组图片来引出enough totoo…to,并用学过的课文内容编写例句来巩固这两种句型,然后再讲解这两种句型的转换。最后通过一些练习进行巩固。

    教学目标

    通过本课节的教学,让学生达成以下目标:

    1.知识目标

    掌握词汇:discussion, express

    2.能力目标

    (1)学会用enough to 来描述一个人的品质和能力;

    (2)学会用too…to 来表达一个否定的结果。

    3.情感目标

    通过学习礼仪知识,使学生养成举止文明的好习惯。

    重点难点

    1.重点:学会用enough to 来描述一个人的品质和能力;

    学会用too…to 来表达一个否定的结果。

    2.难点:enough totoo…to句型的转换。

    Step 1  Lead-in

    1. Look at the pictures and discuss.

    What are they doing? What do you think of them?

    The girl is helpful enough to give her seat on the bus.

    queue in public

    The man is patient enough to queue in public places.

    say hello to his teacher

    The student is polite enough to say hello to his teacher.

    Step 2  Presentation  

    1. Read, translate and think.

    Whats the similarity(相似点) among the three sentences?

    The girl is helpful enough to give her seat on the bus.

    The man is patient enough to queue in public places.

    The student is polite enough to say hello to his teacher.

    Sentence structure: be + adj./adv. + enough + to do sth足够……做某事

    We use this pattern(结构) to describe(描述) a persons personality(品质)  and abilities(能力).

    Step 3  Practice

    1. Make sentences with “enough to”.

    (1)Alice, careful, notice a white rabbit in a coat passing by

    Alice is careful enough to notice a white rabbit in a coat passing by.

    (2)British people, polite, say “thank you” at home

    British people are polite enough to say “thank you” at home.

    (3)J. K. Rowling, creative, write interesting stories

    J.K. Rowling is creative enough to write interesting stories.

    (4)Lin Tao, brave, save his neighbor from a fire

    Lin Tao was brave enough to save his neighbor from a fire.

    (5)Gulliver’s voice, loud, make all the tiny men fall over

    Gulliver’s voice was loud enough to make all the tiny men fall over.

    (6)Zhong Nanshan, careful, notice small changes in patients

    Zhong Nanshan is careful enough to notice small changes in patients.

    (7)Zhong Nanshan, clever, give useful advice on time

    Zhong Nanshan is clever enough to give useful advice on time.

    (8)doctors, hard-working, work over 12 hours a day

    Doctors are hard-working enough to work over 12 hours a day.

    (9)doctors, friendly, look after patients well.

    Doctors are friendly enough to look after patients well.

    2. Suzy wants to tell her parents what she thinks about her friends. Help her make sentences using “enough to…”. (P70)

    3. Check the answers with students.

    4. Pair work

    A: Who would you like to make friends with? Why?

    5. Guessing game.

    What do you think of your group members?

    Tips:

    Use “He/She is…enough to” to describe your group members.

    Don’t tell us the name.

    Others guess who he/she is. If you know, tell us immediately.

    Step 4  Extension

    1. Show a picture of a skater and say.

    He skates fast enough to win the first.

    Students listen carefully enough to work out the rule.

    Sentence structure:  Sb +实义动词 + adv. +enough +to do

    2. Show more pictures and give more examples.

    They dance happily enough to forget to go home.

    She has lunch quickly enough to have more time for patients.

    3. Show a picture and present the sentence structure.

    The novel is interesting enough for me to read again.

    Apple pies are delicious enough for her to eat every day.

    Sentence structure: Sth +be + adj. + enough +for sb + to do

    4. Show more pictures and give more examples.

    The Math problem is easy enough for children to work out.

    The yellow trainers are not big enough for Yao Ming to wear.

    5. Show a picture and present the sentence structure:

    He eats enough vegetables to keep fit.

    They have enough time to read the novel.

    Sentence structureSb + v. + enough +n. + to do

    6. Show more pictures and give more examples.

    All the children wear enough clothes to keep warm.

    One of the workers has enough scissors to do DIY.

    Step 5  Presentation

    1. Look at the pictures and discuss. 

    What are they doing?

    talk loudly in the library

    The boy is too selfish(自私的) to care about others feeling.

    drop the litter

    The man is too lazy to drop the litter into rubbish bin.

    push in before others

    The man is too impatient to queue for his turn.

    2. Read, translate and think.

    Sentence structure: be + too+adj. + to do某人太……而不能……

    We use this pattern to express(表达) a negative(否定的) result.

    Step 6  Practice

    1. Make sentences with “too… to”

    (1)Gulliver, tired, stand

    Gulliver was too tired to stand.  

    (2)Millie, excited, stop taking photos

    Millie is too excited to stop taking photos.

    (3)Andrew, careless, finish DIY   

    Andrew was too careless to finish DIY.

    (4) Alice , big, go through the door

    Alice is too big to go through the door.

    The door is too small for Alice to go through the door.

    Tip: Sometimes we need to add “for sb” before the to-infinitive.

    2. The radio show is over. Millie wants to write about that day in her diary. Help her rewrite the sentences with “to be + too + adjective + to-infinitive”. (P71)

    Answers:

    1. Suzy was too shy to join the discussion.

    2. Simon was too excited to express himself clearly.

    3. Peter was too slow to write down all the main points.

    4. Amy was too careless to take her hat with her when she left.

    5. Kitty was too busy with her dancing lessons to listen to the radio.

    Step 7  Extension

    1. Show two pictures and give two examples.

    Tom plays too happily to do his homework.

    They listen too carefully to notice the bird outside.

    Sentence structure:Sb + 实义动词+ too+ adv. + to do

    2. Show more examples.

    She walks too slowly to catch the bus.

    He speaks too quickly to express himself clearly.

    3. Show two pictures and give two examples.

    The hamburger is too big for him to eat up.

    The milk is too hot for me to drink.

    Sentence structure: Sth + be + too + adj. + for sb + to do

    4. Show more example.

    Japanese is too difficult for grandpa to learn.

    Masks are too easy for people to buy.

    5. Show a picture and the sentences.

    The coat is too small for the girl to wear.

    =The coat is not big enough for the girl to wear.

    Tiptoo + adj. +to do= not adj. + enough + to do

    They can express the same meaning.

    6. Challenge. Change it into another way.

    Peter was too slow to write down all the main points.

    Peter was not fast enough to write down all the main points.

    Work out the rule:

    be + too + adj. + to do

                  

    opposites

     

    be not + adj. +enough +to do

    7. Practice.

    (1) Alice is too big to go through the door.

    Answers: (1) Alice is not small enough to go through the door.

    (2) Amy was not careful enough to take her hat with her when she left.

    Step 8  Practice

    1. Advice from Mrs Sun.

    We should behave well not only in public but also at home.

    Use enough to and too...to to replace(代替) the underlined(下划线) sentences.

    Dear students,

    Most of you behave well in public. But I think you should have good manners at home as well. Here are my suggestions.

    First, talk with your parents as often as possible. (1)Some students are impatient. They don’t talk with their parents.

    Second, respect (尊重) your parents. (2)Some students are rude. They cant keep their voice down when talking with their parents.

    Third, try your best to help your parents. (3)You should be helpful and do some housework.

    At last, learn to be polite. When your parents do something for you, (4)you should say “thank you” politely.

    If you follow my advice, you will enjoy yourselves at home.

    2. Make at least 5 sentences with the two sentence structures enough to and tooto.
