设计说明
本课时的重点内容为阅读和写作,进一步强调语言的运用。针对2b的内容,可采用速读、精读、读后填词、重点句子背诵、复述等方式来循序渐进地掌握巩固。教师引导学生自主完成阅读任务,培养学生的自学能力。在写作训练中,通过教师指导、限时作文,然后小组互评、教师点评、范文展示等方式让学生学到写作技巧、提高英语写作能力。
教学目标
1. 知识目标:
(1)掌握单词和短语:high,ago,India,tent,moon,surprise,snake,scared,move,start,jump,wake,into,forest,ear;high school,put up,each other,get a surprise,shout to...,up and down,wake...up。
(2)读懂课文:A Weekend to Remember。
2. 能力目标:
掌握阅读技巧,提高阅读能力;学会运用一般过去时描述自己的周末经历,提高写作能力。
3. 情感目标:
通过了解他人的周末旅行见闻,增长阅历;通过小组活动,指导学生积极与他人交流,互相学习,互相帮助,体验成功与快乐。

Step 1 Warming up & Leading in
1. Free talk.
T:Good morning,boys and girls! Look at the screen. Please ask and answer in pairs.
For example:
A:What did he do last weekend?
B:He cleaned his bedroom.
2. T:Let’s have a chant.
What did you do yesterday? I played the piano. Play,played,played. What did she do last weekend? She studied for the test. Study,studied,studied. What did they do last weekend? They danced in the park. Dance,danced,danced. What did he do last Sunday? He went to the park. Go,went,went. |
Step 2 Presentation
1. Look at the picture on page 71.
T:What’s this? (Help the students to answer.)
Ss:It’s a snake.
T:What do you think of snakes? /How do you feel about snakes?
Ss:They’re scary.
T:Are you scared/afraid of them?
Ss:...

2. T:What kinds of animals are people sometimes afraid of ? Why? Make a list.

Step 3 Reading
T:Look at the picture. There’s a snake in it. And look at the title “A Weekend to Remember”. What do you think the article is about? Is it about snakes? What happened? Now,let’s read it.
1. Read the article in 2b after the recording and then answer the questions.
Answers:1. Lisa’s last weekend was interesting but scary.
2. They went camping in a small village in India.
3. She was so scared that she couldn’t move.
4. They shouted to their parents to let them know about the danger.
5. Their dad started to jump up and down in their tent. Because snakes don’t have ears but can feel things moving.
6. Snakes don’t have ears,but they can feel things moving. It was important not to go near a snake.
2. Read it carefully and find out the phrases in groups.

(1)two weeks ago意为“两周前”。“一段时间+ago” 表示“多长时间之前”,是表达过去的时间状语,常与一般过去时连用。
I finished (finish) the work three days ago.
三天前我完成了这项工作。
(2)There we put up our tents and made a fire to keep us warm and cook food on.
①短语:搭帐篷 put up tents 生火 make a fire
使我们暖和 keep us warm 在(火)上煮食物 cook food on (the fire)
②to keep...and cook...是动词不定式短语作目的状语,keep与cook是并列的。
③“keep sb. +adj.”意为“使某人保持某种状态”,keep us warm意为“使我们暖和”。
④put的过去式为put,made是make的过去式。
(3)But I was so tired that I went to sleep early.
I was so scared that I couldn’t move.
so...that...表示“如此……以至于……”。that后必须是句子,表示某一结果,如果这个结果是否定的,且句子的主语与前面句子的主语一致,则可与too...to...结构进行同义转换。
I was so scared that I couldn’t move. = I was too scared to move.
The game is so interesting that I don’t want to stop playing it. 这个游戏如此有趣,以至于我不想停下来。
(4)surprise的用法:
①作名词,意为“惊奇;惊讶;惊喜”,常用短语有:in surprise(惊奇地),get a surprise(吃惊),to one’s surprise (使某人惊讶的是),give...a surprise(给……一个惊喜)。
②作动词,意为“使……惊奇/惊讶”。surprise的形容词形式为surprising(令人惊奇的),surprised(吃惊的)。
I got a surprise when I met him again.
当我再次见到他时我吃了一惊。
They were surprised to hear the surprising news about me but I didn’t want to surprise them. (surprise)
听到有关我的这则令人吃惊的消息,他们感到很惊讶,但是我并不想让他们诧异。
(5)英语中的感官动词,如see,hear,feel等,后面可以接doing,作宾语补足语,表示“看见/听见/觉得某人或某物正在做某事”。
I heard someone singing (sing) in the next room when I passed by yesterday.
我昨天经过时听到有人正在隔壁房间里唱歌。
(6)wake up意为“唤醒;叫醒”,为及物动词短语,是由“动词+副词”构成的短语。后面可以跟名词或人称代词作宾语。宾语是名词时,可以放在wake和up的中间或后面。如果宾语是人称代词,应放在wake和up的中间。
wake up还可作不及物动词短语,意为“醒来”。
5. Read the passage again,put the phrases in 2c in order,and then use them to retell the story.

Step 4 Writing
1. Ask the students to look at the pictures in 3a and write the activities with the past forms of the verbs.
On Saturday:

2. Ask the students to complete the passage in 3a.

3. T:We had different weekends. Sometimes it was great and sometimes it was not good. How was your weekend? Fill in the chart and write about last weekend.

Step 5 Self Check
1. Review the phrases in this unit and complete the phrases in Self Check 1. Ask the students to do the exercise by themselves. Then check the answers.

2. Use the phrases to make sentences with the Simple Past Tense.
3. Complete the conversation in activity 2.

5. Talk about the new expressions.
(1)“We watched the firefighters work. ”中watch sb. do sth. 意为“观看某人做某事”,表示观看到的动作已经完成,也可表示观看到的动作经常发生。用法与watch类似的词还有see(看到),hear(听到)等。
I often watch the boys play (play) soccer.
我经常观看那些男孩踢足球。
I watched them cleaning (clean) their classroom when I went to find them.
当我去找他们时,我看到他们正在打扫教室。
(2)“What an interesting job they have! ”为what引导的感叹句。其结构为“What(+a/an)+adj. +n. (+主语+谓语)!”,当句中名词为可数名词单数时,其前应加不定冠词a/an;当句中名词为不可数名词或可数名词复数时,则不加不定冠词a/an。
What a hot day it was yesterday!
What an exciting day we had!
What hot weather it is!
What good boys(they are)!
(3)“疑问词+动词不定式”可作主语、宾语、表语等。
Can you teach me how to start (start) the car and what to do (do) next?
