    课标要求
    This sectin mainly cnsists f tw parts - Opening Page & Reading and Thinking. The theme f this sectin is “fd and culture”. In the Opening Page, a pht f a traditinal Lng-Table Banquet in the Mia Stckade Village f One Thusand Husehlds in Leishan, Guizhu is presented. Such banquet is ppular in ethnic minrity areas in Guangxi, Yunan, Guizhu, Hunan, etc. The qute f this unit means that s ften peple shw and receive lve thrugh fd, and s in that sense fd feeds bth the bdy and the heart, and it als binds us tgether.

    Identify and memrize the meanings f new wrds and expressins related t culture and fd;
    Apply reading strategies t get a gd understanding f the text and frm a structural knwledge f the text;
    Analyze the cause and effect f a certain event;
    Explain the meaning f “culture and cuisine g hand in hand” and state the pssible relatinship between different fds and persnalities.

    Ask students t lk at the pht n page 25 and answer the questins: What can yu see in this pht? Where d yu think this pht was taken? What is happening in this pht? What impresses yu mst in the picture?

    Invite sme students t share their answers. The rest f the class can add their wn pinins.
    Ask students t read the qute n page 25 and try t translate it int Chinese.
    Have students share their understandings f the qute.
    Ask students what they knw abut Giada De Lanrentiis. Intrduce her t the class by adding mre related infrmatin.
    Ask students t read the learning bjectives f this unit and underline the key wrds r phrases.
    Have students wrk in grups f 4 and discuss the questins 2, 3 n page 25.
    Cllect answers frm grups.
    Step Tw Leading in
    Ask students t read and discuss the questins in Activity 1 n page 26 with their partners.
    Invite sme students t share their ideas.
    Explain sme new wrds in this sectin t students thrugh paraphrasing.
    Step Three Making predictins
    Guide students t lk at the title and the pictures f the text and then make predictins by answering three questins:
    Have yu ever heard f the saying “Yu are what yu eat”?
    What d yu think this saying means?
    What’s the pssible relatinship between culture and cuisine accrding t yur understanding.
    Cllect answers frm the class.
    Step Fur Reading and checking
    Ask students t read the text quickly and underline the sentences that can shw

    Ask students t read the text again mre carefully and finish Activity 3 n page 27.
    Cllect answers frm the class.
    Step Five Reading and matching
    Ask students t read “Understand cause an effect “ n page 27 and make it clear that “cause-effect” is a cmmn type f relatinship between events.
    Ask students t finish Activity 4 n page 27. And then cllect answers frm the class.
    Ask students t read thrugh the text t find mre examples frm the text.
    Invite sme f them t share their examples.
    Step Six Reading fr structure and language
    Ask students t read the text t draw a mind map abut the structure f the text. Try t underline and appreciate the language used t describe the fd and culture.
    Cllect students’ mind maps and their appreciatin f the language.
    Step Seven Thinking and discussing
    Ask students t think abut the questin: D yu think “culture and cuisine g hand in hand?” Make them discuss in grups and nte dwn their pinins fr grup presentatin.
    Ask 3 r 4 grups t give their presentatins.
