This sectin mainly cnsists f tw parts - Opening Page & Reading and Thinking. The theme f this sectin is “fd and culture”. In the Opening Page, a pht f a traditinal Lng-Table Banquet in the Mia Stckade Village f One Thusand Husehlds in Leishan, Guizhu is presented. Such banquet is ppular in ethnic minrity areas in Guangxi, Yunan, Guizhu, Hunan, etc. The qute f this unit means that s ften peple shw and receive lve thrugh fd, and s in that sense fd feeds bth the bdy and the heart, and it als binds us tgether.

Guide students t lk at the title and the pictures f the text and then make predictins by answering three questins:

What d yu think this saying means?
What’s the pssible relatinship between culture and cuisine accrding t yur understanding.

Ask students t read the text quickly and underline the sentences that can shw

Ask students t read the text t draw a mind map abut the structure f the text. Try t underline and appreciate the language used t describe the fd and culture.
