Here are 4 wonderful hotels where you can sleep in the great outdoors.
    Amanruya, Turkey
Amanruya is an ideal resort for any traveler who wants to spend the whole day outdoors. The hotel offers adventures including island picnics and explorations of ancient remains. All the rooms should be reserved (预定) two weeks before hand. Rates start at $535 a night per person.
    Ngala Safari Lodge, South Africa
The hotel is located on the edge of Kruger National Park. Tourists can enjoy a one-night experience in a four-level tree house to get close to the animals hanging about in the park. Just don’t expect to post live to your social platform from here: the tree house is off the Internet. Rates start at $560 a night per person.
    La Valise Tulum, Mexico
If you can’t decide whether to sleep indoors or outdoors, why not book a room that lets you do both in the same bed? Such is the main feature of La Valise Tulum. The king-size bed can be moved out onto the sea-facing balcony (阳台) for a night under the stars or moved in for a more private experience. Unsurprisingly, this room is highly popular, with reservations often made a full year before hand. Rates start at $600 a night per person.
    Las Ventanas al Paraiso, Mexico
At this famous resort, anyone who books a room with a rooftop terrace (露天平台) can spend a magical night outdoors. The hotel’s Sleeping Under the Stars Experience aims to introduce guests to the incredible starwatching for which the area is known. The service includes the setup of a four-poster bed, flowers, and, naturally, a telescope for finding your favorite stars. Rates start at $615 a night per person.

Eric Moussambani is the first swimmer from Equatorial Guinea to compete in the Olympics. He found his passion for swimming shortly after high school. At the time, he didn’t know how to swim, but he knew it was a sport he wanted to pursue.
Unfortunately, there were no standard swimming pools in his country. Eventually, he found a hotel pool where he could only swim three hours a week. When he couldn’t use the pool, he trained in rivers and the sea, with the local fishermen guiding him on how to use his legs and arms.
After about eight months of swimming, Eric gained entry into the 2000 Summer Olympics through a program designed to encourage sports development in developing countries.
In Sydney, Eric saw an Olympic-size swimming pool for the first time. It was so big that Eric said he was so frightened to compete in it. In preparing for his event, Eric trained at the same time as the US team and took the opportunity to study their techniques closely. A South African coach gave him a pair of competition trunks (泳裤) and some goggles (护目镜), which were what he needed badly.
On September 19, 2000, Eric stepped out for the men’s 100m freestyle competition. With his two fellow competitors stopped from taking part for making false starts, Eric suddenly found himself racing on his own. “I swam the first 50m really well,” said Eric after the competition. “I focused all my energy on telling myself to keep going.” After turning for the second length, however, Eric began to pay for spending so much energy on the first. As his legs stiffened (变僵硬), he felt he was going nowhere. “It was then that I heard the crowd shouting, encouraging me to ‘Go, go, go’. It gave me the strength to make it to the end.”
Eric finished the race with a time of 1:52.72, the slowest recorded time in Olympic history. But the audience did not care. They cheered him as if he had broken the world record. To this day, Eric is still an Olympic hero.
4、What is true about Eric before he participated in the Sydney Olympics?
    A. He had nobody to teach him how to swim.
    B. He had never trained in a standard swimming pool.
    C. He developed his love for swimming from his childhood.
    D. He entered the Olympics by beating all the other competitors.
5、What can we learn from paragraph 4?
    A. Eric had made full preparations for his event.
    B. The US team offered to teach Eric some techniques.
    C. Eric was eager to compete in the Olympic swimming pool.
    D. Eric didn’t even have proper equipment for the competition.
6、Which of the following best describes Eric’s 100m freestyle competition?
    A. Inspiring. B. Competitive. C. Successful. D. Meaningless.
7、What is Eric mainly remembered for?
    A. His outstanding talent for swimming.
    B. His strong willpower to reach his goal.
    C. His record-breaking performance at the Olympics.
    D. His great achievements in the world’s sports development.
Harvey Sutton spent nearly seven months hiking(徒步旅行)with his parents, walking the thousands of miles that make up the complete Appalachian Trail(阿巴拉契亚山道), which is simply called the “AT”. Harvey was just 4 years old when he started, and celebrated his 5th birthday on the trail.
To build up their child’s physical health and develop his personal qualities, Josh and Mary Sutton have been hiking with Harvey since he was two years old. They prepared him for hiking the “AT” by starting out with lots of shorter walks and hikes.
The “AT” is a 3,530-kilometer hiking trail that runs through the forests of the Appalachian Mountains, from Georgia to Maine, passing through 14 states in all. The amount of up and down on the trail is about the same as climbing up and down Mount Everest (the world’s tallest mountain) 16 times. So only one out of every 4 hikers completes all the sections of the trail. But that didn’t stop Harvey and his family.
It took Harvey and his family 209 days — about seven months — to complete the entire AT. Every day the family would wake up around 5:30 in the morning. They would have breakfast and pack up their tent(帐篷) and sleeping bags before setting off through the woods. In general, the family hiked about 16 kilometers a day before stopping to set up camp again.
During his days on the AT, Harvey liked to use his imagination, which helped him walk more quickly and have fun. Harvey and his family made friends with other hikers on the trail. Harvey didn’t seem to get tired and enjoyed the hard work of hiking. “My favorite part was the rock climbing,” he says, “because it was so fun and hard.”
Completing the AT taught Harvey and his parents how to work as a team and how to take on challenges together. “We’re closer than ever before because of the experience,” Harvey’s mom said. “If possible, I want to hike the AT again at some point in the future,” Harvey added.
8、For what purpose did the Suttons hike the “AT”?
    A. To see the fantastic natural scenery together.
    B. To prepared Harvey to climb Mount Everest.
    C. To make Harvey strong both in body and in mind.
    D. To celebrate Harvey’s 5th birthday in a special way.
9、What do the numbers in paragraph 3 illustrate?
    A. The main features of the AT.
    B. The difficulty of hiking the AT.
    C. The popularity of climbing the AT.
    D. The significance of crossing the AT.
10、What is the typical character of Harvey?
    A. Brave, curious and talkative.
    B. Honest, easy-going and creative.
    C. Challengeable, proud and humorous.
    D. Adventurous, positive and strong-willed.
11、What does the last paragraph mainly tell us?
    A. Harvey is going to hike the AT again.
    B. It’s important to meet challenges on one’s own.
    C. The Suttons have benefited greatly from the hike.
    D. Hiking is sure to make family relationship stronger.
A group of researchers have developed a new material which is soft but very strong. It can be worn and washed like ordinary clothing and could finally turn sports clothes into smart “wearables”.
The so-called “carbon nanotube threads” (碳纳米管线) can be used to measure heart rate to test heart conditions. But instead of having to be stuck on the skin, they can be fixed on a T-shirt and worn like usual athletic wear. The researchers say the threads can comfortably move with the wearer, and be washed and worn repeatedly without breaking down.
Though going into production for customers is still a long way off, the material could finally help replace some medical facilities, such as the heart-rate monitoring machines and watches, in addition to other possible uses. For the latest study, researchers worked with a rope-maker to make the threads together into a material similar to ordinary thread that could be sewn(缝纫) into athletic clothes. The resulting “smart” shirt provides “soft, wearable, dry sensors for continuous” heart-rate monitoring, the study states. With some improvement, the clothes with these carbon nanotube threads could be able to track other human body life signs, according to the researchers.
The “smart” shirts aren’t entirely without wires (电线), however. One example shows the nanotube in the shirt feeding testing results to wires on the bottom that transmit the information through Bluetooth technology to a computer.
“The threadlike material —thin enough to run through a sewing machine—is not only soft and comfortable to the touch, but also so strong that you can build a power line out of it,” said Dewy, a member of the research team. “Nothing else behaves like this promising material.”
12、What is the new material expected to do?
    A. Make a new style of sportswear. B. Take the place of traditional clothes.
    C. Provide measurement for heartbeats. D. Help determine the type of an illness.
13、What does the underlined word “transmit” mean in paragraph 4?
    A. Send. B. Connect. C. Add. D. Track.
14、What can we learn about the new material?
    A. It’ll cause a waste of resources.
    B. It has gained a large sales market.
    C. It has a bright future of development.
    D. It’ll improve the function of the heart.
15、What is the best title for the text?
    A. Scientists Are Studying Human Body Life Signs
    B. Advanced Medical Facilities Are Put into Wide Use
    C. Smart Wearables Are Well Received Among Athletes
    D. Carbon Nanotube Threads Are Created to Test Heart Rate

Last week, my friend Bob and his grandmother, Abuela, decided to go skiing (滑雪) in the mountains. They invited me to go with them.
Unluckily, it was bitterly cold. Abuela, probably the kindest person in the world, found me shaking with cold and offered me her scarf. It was the softest and warmest scarf that I had ever worn. And more importantly, Abuela had knitted(编织) it herself.
After a couple of hours of skiing, Abuela said, “I need a rest! You two just go ahead. I’ll be in the small house there, reading by the fire.”
Bob and I took one more ride on the ski lift up the mountain. As we watched people skiing down, I said, “This one piece of yarn (毛线) on the scarf keeps making my jaw uncomfortable.” So I pulled on the end of the yarn, thinking it was just a loose piece that had separated from the scarf. But the more I pulled, the longer the piece became. When I took off the scarf to see what was wrong, I was horrified, “Oh no! I just turned Abuela’s scarf into half a scarf and half a big pile of yarn!”
    “Grandma will understand,” said Bob.
I shook my head. “It was a one-of-a-kind thing that I’ll never be able to replace! What should I do?”
“Um, you could throw it from this lift,” Bob suggested, “and say the strong wind had blown it away.” His silly idea didn’t make me feel better.
Right then, it was our turn to get off the lift. I put the poor scarf into my pocket and skied extra slowly down the mountain.
    注意:
    1. 续写词数应为80左右;
    2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Along the way, conflicting thoughts kept crossing my mind.

The "AT" is a 3,530-kilometer hiking trail that runs through the forests of the Appalachian Mountains, from Georgia to Maine, passing through 14 states in all. The amount of up and down on the trail is about the same as climbing up and down Mount Everest (the world's tallest mountain) 16 times. So only one out of every 4 hikers completes all the sections of the trail. "AT"是一条3530公里的徒步旅行路线,从乔治亚州到缅因州,穿过阿巴拉契亚山脉的森林,总共经过14个州。这条小径上下移动的次数大约相当于攀登珠穆朗玛峰(世界最高的山峰)16次。因此,每4名徒步旅行者中只有一人完成了所有的部分。可知,本段里列举的数字说明了徒步穿越AT的困难。故选B。
    10、答案:D
解析:推理判断题。根据倒数第二段的During his days on the AT, Harvey liked to use his imagination, which helped him walk more quickly and have fun. Harvey didn't seem to get tired and enjoyed the hard work of hiking.
Completing the AT taught Harvey and his parents how to work as a team and how to take on challenges together. "We're closer than ever before because of the experience," Harvey's mom said.
根据第二段的“The so-called ‘carbon nanotube threads’ can be used to measure heart rate to test heart conditions.(这种所谓的“碳纳米管线”可以用来测量心率,以测试心脏状况。)”
    13、答案:A
通读全文,尤其是第二段的The so-called “carbon nanotube threads”(碳纳米管线) can be used to measure heart rate to test heart conditions.(这种所谓的“碳纳米管线”可以用来测量心率,以测试心脏状况。)
解析:①上文“Hobbies can help reduce stress and put our focus on what is fun and different.(爱好可以帮助我们减轻压力,把我们的注意力放在有趣和不同的事情上。)”说明了爱好的好处,E项“The key is to find something that will do just that for you.(关键是找到可以给你带来这种好处的爱好)”中的指示代词that指代上文爱好的好处,指代一致,且与该段主题句“Find a new hobby(寻找一项新的爱好)”相呼应。故选E。
②下文“This way, you can not only be your best self but also possibly take better care of people around you.(这样,你不仅可以成为最好的自己,而且可以更好地照顾身边的人)”说明了把自己放在首位的良好结果,与G项“Taking time out for yourself daily improves your emotion and performance.(每天给自己留点时间可以改善你的情绪和表现)”构成直接的因果关系,符合题意。故选G。
③上文“Not everyone is a fan of exercise, but it does have so many benefits.(不是每个人都喜欢锻炼,但锻炼确实有许多好处)”说明了锻炼的必要性,C项“You are doing your body a service by working out.(锻炼对你的身体是有好处的)”中的working out与上文的exercise是近义词,且两句话表达的意义一致。故选C。
④上文“There is a relationship between food and mood.(食物和情绪之间是有关系的)”说明了食物和人的身体和情绪之间的关联,其中的food与F项“What you put in your body determines how your body responds.(你吃的东西决定了你身体的反应)”中的“what you put in your body”是同义转换,且两句话表述一致。
下文“Unfortunately, not everyone means well. So it’s important to be aware of that and make it your priority only to allow people beneficial to your mental health in your life.(不幸的是,并非每个人都是好意的。所以,意识到这一点并优先考虑那些生活中对你心理健康有益的人很重要)”说明了在交际中,明智地选择交往的人的重要性,与A项“Choose your social circles wisely.(明智地选择你的社交圈)”表述一致。故选A。
    17、答案:D

    32、答案:①took②has held③an④originally⑤which⑥and⑦earliest⑧tied⑨serving⑩protection
由since the Western Zhou Dynasty可知,主句应用现在完成时。主语It是单数,故填has held。
with their hair...

Along the way, conflicting thoughts kept crossing my mind. "What on earth should I do?" I wondered. It would be really shameful to return the torn scarf to Abuela, but lying was the last thing I would do. Finally I made up my mind to tell her the truth. "I m terribly sorry," I sincerely apologized to Abuela and explained exactly what had happened when we reached the small house. To my great relief, Abuela was really nice and understanding. "It doesn't matter. I can reknit the scarf easily. Just forget it, good boy," Abuela said with a sweet smile and I truly experienced the pleasure of being honest.
