    Hallween is a hliday celebrated n Octber 31. By traditin, Hallween begins after sunset. Lng ag, peple believed that witches gathered tgether and ghsts ramed the wrld n Hallween. Tday, mst peple n lnger believe in ghsts and witches. But these supernatural beings are still a part f Hallween.
    The clrs black and range are als a part f Hallween. Black is a symbl fr night and range is the clr f pumpkins. A jack-’-lantern is a hllwed-ut pumpkin with a face carved n ne side. Candles are usually placed inside.
    Dressing up in cstumes is ne f the mst ppular Hallween custms, especially amng children. Accrding t traditin, peple wuld dress up in cstumes (wear special clthing, masks r disguises) t frighten the spirits away.
    Trick -r -Treat is a mdern Hallween custm where children g frm huse t huse dressed in cstume, asking fr treats like candy r tys. If they dn't get any treats, they might play a trick (mischief r prank) n the wners f the huse.
    The traditin f the Jack ' Lantern cmes frm a flktale abut a man named Jack wh tricked the devil and had t wander the Earth with a lantern. The Jack ' Lantern is made by placing a candle inside a hllwed-ut pumpkin, which is carved t lk like a face.

Peple asked Mm t put it n YuTube, and by Wednesday mrning we were getting 5am calls frm TV breakfast shws and then the internatinal media –the vide started racking up hundreds f thusands f views. When I went n a yuth camp, I was recgnised by children I’d never met. The pumpkin als became a minr celebrity. Passersby and trick-r-treaters wuld knck and ask, “Which is Rachel’s pumpkin?” befre taking selfies with it.
    Althugh ur pumpkin carving the fllwing year was a mre sedate affair, I wuldn’t say I learned my lessn. A few mnths later I squeezed myself int a laundry basket during a game f hide-and-seek and became hpelessly jammed. It was Dad wh respnded t my cries fr help. Inevitably, I was kept waiting fr a while – first he had t lk fr the vide camera.
