Something strange has been happening to me lately: Women in the street have been telling me I’m brave. My act of courage isn’t much —____6____
I had brown hair that started going gray when I was 30. So, like a lot of women, I started dyeing it. ____7____ And my hair grew fast, so I needed to go back to the hair salon every five weeks. Many people seem to enjoy holding on to their youth for as long as possible. But our hair starts to turn gray and we start spending $500 or more a year to cover something our male colleagues don’t need to cover.
____8____ — my mother is 91 and still has “blond” hair, and why not? I just wish more of us would feel that it was OK to be ourselves because going gray has done more for me than saving me time and money. ____9____ I like how it has gotten curly and full again. It is recovering after years of being damaged by chemicals. I also like that it has given me some needed perspective in a society that makes youth seem so important, while being against maturity.
When I see my hair in the mirror, it’s a reminder that my time is not infinite, and I should spend it doing what matters. ____10____ I see my gray hair as a little act of rebellion against the idea that people lose value as they age, instead of gaining it.

For the first time, I started to listen to things I’d never listened to before, like the drums. ___12___ For the first time I started to really appreciate the power of the bass guitar, and the huge part it played in music. How was it possible that I’d never really heard it before? I started to pay attention to what all the different instruments were doing and it blew my mind.
___13___ It was richer and more fascinating, and I started to appreciate it so much more than I had ever before. I found that becoming a creator, rather than a consumer, turned me from a receiver into a producer. ___14___ I started to collect stories, moments, feelings, quotes, and jokes. Eventually, I did reach my dream of being on MTV.
Music taught me a lot about being a creator. The world is so full of stuff that it’s easy to sit back and just consume it. ___15___ It quickly makes you aware of your shortcomings and your lack of knowledge. When we got to the hospital, they helped me get through it. ____23____ So every time I needed to update my parents, they had to go somewhere else with my phone to text them.
The ambulance employers wanted me to pay in cash. I didn’t have that much cash and the ATMs there never worked for my cards. ____24____ I felt terrible about borrowing that much money from them. But when I asked them to write down their bank details, they simply told me to text them later when I was out of the hospital.
They stayed with me for hours. But even after they left, they stayed in touch asking me how I was and how everything was going—even a year later. I may have been unlucky for breaking my back, but I was so lucky for the people there when it happened. ____25____

    1.
根据上文“His father played the piano by ear. (他父亲靠听觉弹奏钢琴)”和下文“So at the age of six, Richard started piano lessons at home.
    2.
根据上文“At the age of 13, Renald Richard went to see a band perform at a church dance. It was very amazing and he decided to play the trumpet. 太令人惊奇了,他决定吹小号)”和下文“Then in Houston, Texas in 1954, Richard was approached by Jeff Brown, the manager of musician Ray Charles.
    3.
根据下文“He just got a hit record out and he would be interested in you playing the trumpet in the band. 故选A。
    4.
结合上文雷·查尔斯邀请理查德成为乐队小号手和下文““First of all, to be selected by Ray Charles was an honor to me. I was honored by that and a little nervous.” In time, Richard became Charles’ bandleader.
    5.
根据上文“Richard stayed friendly with Ray Charles over the years. (理查德和雷·查尔斯多年来一直保持着友好关系)”和下文“Four years later, he moved again, this time to New York City.

    6.
根据下文“I had brown hair that started going gray when I was 30. So, like a lot of women, I started dyeing it.(我的头发是棕色的,30岁时开始变白。所以,像很多女人一样,我开始染头发)”以及第三段“I just wish more of us would feel that it was OK to be ourselves because going gray has done more for me than saving me time and money. 能承接上文“Women in the street have been telling me I’m brave. My act of courage isn’t much(街上的女人都说我很勇敢。
    7.
根据下文“And my hair grew fast, so I needed to go back to the hair salon every five weeks. Many people seem to enjoy holding on to their youth for as long as possible. But our hair starts to turn gray and we start spending $500 or more a year to cover something our male colleagues don’t need to cover.

    10.
根据上文“When I see my hair in the mirror, it’s a reminder that my time is not infinite, and I should spend it doing what matters.(当我在镜子里看到自己的头发时,它提醒我,我的时间不是无限的,我应该把它花在重要的事情上)”可知,当我们的头发变白了,我们应该知道我们的时间更宝贵了,更应把时间花在重要的事情上,而不是忽略这个问题,故选项G“假装它没有发生是我们放弃我们权力的一种方式。”符合语境,进而引出下文的哲理“I see my gray hair as a little act of rebellion against the idea that people lose value as they age, instead of gaining it.(我把我的白发看作是对“人的价值会随着年龄的增长而下降,而不是增加”这一观点的小小反抗)”,故选G。

根据下文“One of them I had met once in Mexico and the other I had just met the day before.”(其中一个我在墨西哥见过一次,另一个我前一天才见过。) G项“But there are two guys that will always have a place in my heart.”(但是有两个人永远在我心中占有一席之地。)中的“two guys”与下文的“One of them和the other”相呼应,且内容与上文“I was surrounded by many kind strangers that day.”(那天我被许多好心的陌生人包围。)
    22.
    根据下文“I missed my target.”(我错过了我的目标。) This代指下文出现的内容,即就是“I missed my target.”,故B选项“这就是问题所在。”
    23.
根据下文“So every time I needed to update my parents, they had to go somewhere else with my phone to text them.”(所以每次我需要更新我的父母的信息时,他们都不得不带着我的手机去别的地方给他们发短信。) C项“There was no WiFi at the emergency department.”(急诊室没有 WiFi。)
    24.
根据上文“The ambulance employers wanted me to pay in cash. I didn’t have that much cash and the ATMs there never worked for my cards.”(救护车雇主要我用现金支付。 A项“So they offered to pay for me.”(所以他们提出要为我付钱。)
    25.
根据上文“I may have been unlucky for breaking my back, but I was so lucky for the people there when it happened.”(我可能很不走运,因为我摔断了背,但我很幸运,因为事情发生的时候那里的人。) E项“I am still grateful for the fact that I’ve met those two guys.”(我仍然很感激我遇到了那两个人。)

    36.
根据上文“Albert Einstein held a small, round instrument with a glass cover and a shaking needle in his palm.(阿尔伯特·爱因斯坦手里拿着一个小而圆的仪器,有一个玻璃罩,手掌上握着一根摇晃的针)”以及后文“Albert’s father called it a compass Albert called it a mystery. No matter how he moved the compass, the needle always pointed to the north.(阿尔伯特的父亲称它为指南针,阿尔伯特称它为一个谜。
    37.
根据上文“Puzzled and attracted, Albert listened to his father explain magnetism, the strange force that made the compass needle point north.(阿尔伯特既迷惑又被吸引,他听父亲解释磁力——使指南针指针指向北方的奇特力量)”后文“To many children the compass would have been just another toy. To Albert the compass was a miracle he would never forget.(对许多孩子来说,指南针只是另一个玩具。
    38.
根据后文“Born on March 14, 1879, Albert hadn’t looked like other babies. As she cradled her new-son in her arms, Pauline Einstein thought the back of his head looked strange.(阿尔伯特出生于1879年3月14日,他和其他婴儿不一样。 Albert had always been different from other children对应后文Albert hadn’t looked like other babies,故B选项“阿尔伯特一直和别的孩子不一样”符合语境,故选B。
    39.
根据上文“When Albert was one, his family moved to Munich, where his sister, Maja, was born a year later.(阿尔伯特一岁的时候。
    40.
根据上文“When he went hiking with his parents and Maja, he thought about his father’s compass and what it had revealed to him. The clear, open grasslands were filled with more than the wind or the pleasant smell of flowers.(当他与父母和Maja一起去徒步旅行时,他想到了父亲的指南针,以及它给他揭示的东西。清新开阔的草原上,充满了风和花香)”可知,本句承接上文说明上文提到的这些事物对阿尔伯特的影响,A选项中they指代上文grasslands和the wind or the pleasant smell of flowers。
