Emotional goals:学习并掌握科学的学习方法,使自己成能为一名成功的学习者。Teaching important and difficult points: 1. New words and phrases. 2. The text understanding, find out the structure of the passage. Teaching methods:1. Reading. 2. Task-based teaching method.Teaching methods: PPTTeaching procedures:Step 1 Warming up Watch a speech video and lead in the topic “learning habits”. List the learning habits. Finish 2a.Step 2 Pre-reading Teacher shows the picture & title to the students. T: Can you guess what the passage is talking about? Step 3 While-readingSkimming 1. Read quickly and divide the passage into 3 parts.
2. Finish the task in 2b. Show four habits. 3. Find out the topic sentence and draw the conclusion. T: When you read a passage, pay attention to the structure. Further thinking 1. Do you agree that learning is a lifelong journey? 2. Why should we learn wisely? 3. How can we learn wisely? Step 4 While-readingScanning 1. Read the passage again and answer the questions in 2c. (1) Does the writer think that everyone is born with the ability to learn well? Do you agree? Why or why not?(2) Why is it a good idea to connect something you need to learn with something you are interested in?(3) What do the sayings “Use it or lose it” and “Practice makes perfect” mean? Do you agree with them?(4) Do good learners learn from mistakes, or are they afraid of making mistakes? (5) What study skills does the writer talk about? Do you have those study skills?(6) Do you agree that learning is a lifelong journey? Why or why not?2. Finish 2d. Let students look up the words from the passage in the dictionary. Then write a sentence of each word.Step 5 Post-reading1. Read the learning habits aloud. Choose the learning habit you like best and share them with the partners. 2. Finish 2e. Do you think you are a good learner? What learning habits do you think are useful? Discuss with your group and share your ideas with the class.
