Sme students have written emails t me and asked why they didn't make much prgress in listening. Here are sme reasns I'm ging t talk abut in tday's class.
Lack f English vcabulary is prbably the number ne reasn why yu can't fully understand what yu hear. If there are a great number f unfamiliar wrds, it may be hard fr yu t understand the given message. Anther case is the fact that yu knw the wrds, yet can't tell their meanings while listening. That usually happens because yu learn new wrds by yur eyes, nt yur ears. Yu have learned the wrds nly in their written frms but have missed the “sund” frms. Besides, smetimes yu knw the wrds, but it happens that yu dn't hear them very ften, s yu fail t recgnize the wrds immediately.
